No I don't think I saw that but it reminds me of something *I saw* and can only hold the memory. It must ahve been 20 or so years ago too, but I was already quite old by then. I was watching some kids TV programme with my little boy. I imagine it was a 'Saturday morning' show being presented by the usual yoof sort. But they had this puppet thing as their confederate. He was big and green and I think he was meant to be an alien. One of his favourite tricks might have been creating or eating his own snot - perhaps both. Anyhow the point was, whoever was doing the puppet was on some stream of consciousness at that point in his career. The green thing (might have been a dragon?) used to frequently launch into monologues.

There was one particular show where he went into something that just seemed to go on and on and on. Normally the 'yoof' presenters would interact with the thing and interrupt to introduce the next pop singer or whatever. But this time even they must have sensed something special was happening. The puppet ad-libbed for minutes and minutes. It was astounding. It must have been live.

I can't even guess what the show was now, or what the 'monster' was called and so 'who' was the voice behind it; and I don't suppose the footage was even recorded.

Do you know, I've got a strange recollection of something similar and it would have fitted the timescale as my son would probably have been watching that sort of programme on a Saturday morning about 20 years ago.

All the best

I am sure it was shown as part of the ITV 50 year celebration and it's not on commercial release, sorry to say, so you may have to ask around. I know I saw it somewhere else.....I will keep trying.

Sounds like Get Fresh featuring Gilbert the (Geordie) Alien voiced by Phil Cornwell.

Question Hi

Hi,

Just stumbled on this site while looking for a long-lost film - The One Way Pendulum 1964 Erik Sykes/Jonathan Miller based on the N.F. Simpson play.

I've only seen this film once - on my old 405line B/W tv, some time in the 1970s - but it made an (obviously) lasting impression. I have been trying to see it again ever since then but without success . I really enjoyed this zany and cynical view of british establishment.

Just happened to google a thread on the Britmovie website where someone (Lostsoul) said they had found a DVD of it.

Would really appreciate any info on how to obtain a copy or even better, get to see the film in a real cinema (I know it was shown at the Bradford Film Festival but only found out afterwards!)

If anyone has any info, I'd be eternally grateful.

Thanks for reading...

Welcome

The BFI holds a copy so it may be possible to make a booking to see it down in London. It may also be possible to arrange to view it in one of their regional centres.

One cannot actually obtain a copy from them though.

South coast, mid-50's software developer. I stumbled onto this site whilst looking for a DVD for my wife's birthday. I can't claim any great fund of film resources, but older films (British and otherwise) fascinate me - so many gems in amongst the dross. Personal favourites: A Matter of Life and Death, Casablanca, and just about anything by Kurosawa.

Hi everyone!

My name is marlene, I came across your forum while I was searching a great movie (Follow me, Carol Reed, I#m looking for it for years now...) and signed in hoping someone could help me.

I'm studying Film and Theater in Vienna, I'm 23 years old and I'm looking forward to spend some more time here, it's always great to discuss with movie-lovers :-).

Greetings from Austria!

(please excuse my sloppy English...)

Hi Amatia and welcome to the forum and also hi to everyone I have not said hi too either.

There's a lot of dignity in that, isn't there? Going out like a raspberry ripple.
