That's amazing Fell, a big thank you from me. I've been trying to find the name of that movie for longer than I care to remember. I'm sure it's the same movie, an identical twin brother is the key to the plot.

Thanks also to earlb, you were on the button with Peter Reynolds. And thanks for the welcome.

Many regards,
Robin

Thanks Fell - My first port of call is always IMDB and never even thought of Google. Looks like I'll have to recut my cloth. Cheers.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

The IMDb is a good first port of call for any questions that are related to films, TV shows or the people that make them. But it shouldn't be your only port of call. Although the IMDb tries hard, and is the largest source of such information, they would be the first to say that they don't have everything yet. And there are always going to be some mistakes in what they do have so it's worth checking other sources as well

Thumbs up Ni hao!

Hello all, I'm Dave a Scot by birth, now living in China. Being away from blighty I miss dearly all of my old favourite films that I could see from time to time on tv. I especially miss the comedies, "Ealing" or otherwise. I'm hoping this forum can be a lifeline to keep the old memories intact.

I should have said that I tried IMDb first but hd no obvious pointer so googled and then checked back against IMDb.

First rule of research - never trust a single source unless it is me about Jenny!

If you only use one source - that's plagiarism
If you use more than one - that's research

Welcome Dave, the Scot in China.
Ealing and many other favourites get quite a frequent airing here

Just new to the forum, interested in anything pertaining to Quatermass II, a movie that has fascinated and spooked me for the last 50 years.
I guess it's too late to see the Shell Haven plant now that it's demolished.

Hi, an introduction two years late i know, but i feel i may now have browsed the forum, and seen enough british film and television to actually make a contribution!

most of the good television had been destroyed long before i was born, and i never had the opportunity to see much british film till i was older.

bear in mind, i still may be asking a fair few more questions of the older and wiser of you out there than i can answer!

Ps. if anyone ever notices anything wrong with anything i post, please say, i'm not brilliant with forums.

thanks. hopefully i can contribute what limited knowledge i have to the forums.

Default hello

Hi,
I'm a new member from the US, and very excited to find forums for British movies and shows as its difficult to actually watch them.
I love Absolutely Fabulous and am really interested in work that Julia Sawalha has done, which I am finding is opening me up to other works.
So anyway, thanks for providing this great site.

Hello and welcome to crickette (and other new members)
Have you ever seen Press Gang? It was the breakthrough series that introduced us to Julia Sawalha and many other great young actors as well as to the writing of Steven Moffat

A bunch of school kids set up a newspaper for the young, named "Junior Gazette". The series follows these kids both on the job and in private.

Superb writing, brilliant performances, a wonderful series

Steve

Im lexxy, I love filmmaking but, honestly, there are two jobs in the process that I know I can’t do—I can’t produce and I can’t edit. I don’t have the personality of a producer; I am not confrontational by nature and I hate bossing people around. I also don’t care for all that paperwork involved, the permits, releases, phone calls and people to organize. I have a lot of respect for the people who can produce; it’s a tough, tough job. As far as editing is concerned, I just can’t seem to sit myself down in front of a computer for hours and hours on end. I get fidgety, restless and after 20 or 30 minutes I just have to get up and go. Where? Anywhere! Sitting there, I feel like the water building up behind a dam ready to burst through. It is a unique, solitary task. I firmly believe only a few people have the disposition for it, but it is these talented individuals who have the clearest vision of all of us when it comes to what a film could look like. A director seems to imagine concepts in broad, often abstract, strokes. An editor, however, sees each shot in vivid clarity, knowing where it will go, how long it will appear on screen and how to make it most effective.
