Hello all, I'm Dave a Scot by birth, now living in China. Being away from blighty I miss dearly all of my old favourite films that I could see from time to time on tv. I especially miss the comedies, "Ealing" or otherwise. I'm hoping this forum can be a lifeline to keep the old memories intact.

Hello, we are FilmLive! A creative community that aims to connect, inspire and educate young Scottish filmmakers, provide practical opportunities and a platform to showcase their creative talents. We have recently launched our new and improved website and are branching out even further and tackling the world of online television through FilmLive!TV.
We've just came back from the Edinburgh International Film Festival, where we were let loose in the capital with camera in tow to create the daily shows. They feature interviews with film makers and actors, film reviews and acted as the inside eye for industry and delegate events. Visit FilmLive.org - Filmmakers Network: Bringing Filmmakers Together in Scotland, UK and International now to watch the special festival series and register your details in our directory. Cheers! |

Hi, an introduction two years late i know, but i feel i may now have browsed the forum, and seen enough british film and television to actually make a contribution!
most of the good television had been destroyed long before i was born, and i never had the opportunity to see much british film till i was older. bear in mind, i still may be asking a fair few more questions of the older and wiser of you out there than i can answer! Ps. if anyone ever notices anything wrong with anything i post, please say, i'm not brilliant with forums. thanks. hopefully i can contribute what limited knowledge i have to the forums. |

Hi,
I'm a new member from the US, and very excited to find forums for British movies and shows as its difficult to actually watch them. I love Absolutely Fabulous and am really interested in work that Julia Sawalha has done, which I am finding is opening me up to other works. So anyway, thanks for providing this great site. |

Have you ever seen Press Gang? It was the breakthrough series that introduced us to Julia Sawalha and many other great young actors as well as to the writing of Steven Moffat A bunch of school kids set up a newspaper for the young, named "Junior Gazette". The series follows these kids both on the job and in private. Superb writing, brilliant performances, a wonderful series Steve |

Im lexxy, I love filmmaking but, honestly, there are two jobs in the process that I know I can’t do—I can’t produce and I can’t edit. I don’t have the personality of a producer; I am not confrontational by nature and I hate bossing people around. I also don’t care for all that paperwork involved, the permits, releases, phone calls and people to organize. I have a lot of respect for the people who can produce; it’s a tough, tough job. As far as editing is concerned, I just can’t seem to sit myself down in front of a computer for hours and hours on end. I get fidgety, restless and after 20 or 30 minutes I just have to get up and go. Where? Anywhere! Sitting there, I feel like the water building up behind a dam ready to burst through. It is a unique, solitary task. I firmly believe only a few people have the disposition for it, but it is these talented individuals who have the clearest vision of all of us when it comes to what a film could look like. A director seems to imagine concepts in broad, often abstract, strokes. An editor, however, sees each shot in vivid clarity, knowing where it will go, how long it will appear on screen and how to make it most effective.
