Well, I'm trying to figure out how avatars can be captured and saved, only to switch and find that Steve's captured this Gloria-Grahame series ad, but when I switched to the Fedora Avatar, his post's 'capture' switched, too. Then Harley's quote picked up his capture and... and...
Wierd... I know the server needs to store as few graphics as possible because it's the text that's important, but it looks like we could defeat this server-goal by using Quotes with images. Maybe we should avoid doing that, eh? Save a little disk space? I understand the original argument about Graphic 1 producing Comment 1, and then when the Graphic is changed, the historic Comment 1 looks meaningless. Ady's recent "lost graphics - no backups" is something all users deal with at some point. I think I've set up 5 or 6 "free file sharing accounts!" on different servers over the years, only to see those services go under. As for a license? Actually, on my volleyball team, I'm one of the shorties, which is pretty refreshing. You should see the shoe salesmen's eyes light up when we all went shopping those days... |

Yes, I was pretty curious to see Gloria Grahame #2 be displayed in one of yours, then altered to Fedora. And obviously, Harley's comments were quoting the GG #2 pix, but that too was altered.
It's actually a pretty slick server-trick, storing some image-address as a reference without storing the image, and then probably once the cache or an update is written, the image gets stored with its transportable address. |
