    Hello,

I'm samasher from Eugene, Oregon in the northwest corner of the USA. I enjoy classic movies including many British ones. Kind Hearts & Coronets is one of my favorite movies. Eugene is a small place and we don't have access to much...

    Hi there,

I'm a grad student based in Austin and I came across this site while frantically trying to locate some information regarding the various adaptations of Margaret Kennedy's "The Constant Nymph." I'm impressed with the engaged level of informed discussion on films that are largely deemed esoteric or maybe just unavailable in the US. I have a history as a collector and curator so I look forward to trading information and texts!

Hi The name Ted Jolly is actually a film, made by three brothers and a friend, an amature film on super 8. Made in the sixties it was made in surrey and tells the story of a boxing match were the gentle ted overcomes the power of the rough tough opponent who uses a horseshoe in his glove, but ted wins through in the end. My brothers and I made quite a few short films and some look like monty python but preceeded their technique. We had great fun making our films which still exsist.

    Hi all!

My name's John and I'm a student at Northumbria University on a Drama and Scriptwriting course.

I love British comedy, from ANY era, and have a great collection. My ultimate favourites are the Carry Ons, while favourite individual stars include Alastair Sim, Terry-Thomas, Alec Guinness, Leoard Rossiter and Peter Sellers.

The site has proved fantastic to me so thought I'd join the forum.

It's suggested that I introduce myself in order to get things started. Alright... My enthusiasm for films began as a child watching horror films. Saw the first one at age five back in 1960 (Freund's The Mummy), and watched a good many more until early adolescence, when girls and music took precedence. Began seeing art-house films in the late Seventies, at the Detroit Film Theatre (an extension of The Detroit Institute of Art). Discovered film noir sometime in the Eighties, with Pickup on South Street on the small screen and Out of the Past at the DFT. Studied Fine Arts in college, painting, but lost interest in making art until I began making woodcuts from stills (see Film Noir Prints by Guy Budziak). Begun the woodcuts in 1999, have continued making them up to now. Film noir led me to French Poetic Realism and German Expressionist films, but my interest in British films has to do with directors Powell and Pressburger, Carol Reed, and David Lean (Lean's Dickens films specifically). I'm looking for a specific film, and it was suggested by blogger David Cairns (SHADOWPLAY) that I join britmovie in my pursuit of it. I think my next three film purchases will be Criterions: The Small Back Room, Pandora's Box, and The Scarlet Empress.

    Hello to all!

I'm a new member of this "club" so am introducing myself as suggested. I'm a reasonably keen film goer and have a fairly catholic taste in films. The first film I ever saw was American so better keep quiet about that. The first British film I remember was Hamlet with Laurence Oliver sometime after 1948 - rather long I thought for a youngish lad. My most recent film visit was to "Easy Virtue" which I thoroughly enjoyed as an intriguing pastiche on the 1920s with some very photogenic scenes and extraordinary locations which I have subsequently researched - two "stately homes" I had never previously heard of.

I found my way to this website as a result of the ad in Saturday's Daily Telegraph "available to own for the very first time on DVD" for "The Glass Mountain" - a film which I have known about for decades but never seen, so now it will be on my Christmas wish list.

    Best wishes to everybody
