Sadly it's had a name change but for many years a pub round the corner from me was called the Genevieve. Anyone know any other pubs named after films?

Goldinger's and Rick's Place have both made an appearance around here ... now they are gone.

Were they your actual pubs or clubs/wine bars? There used to be a gay club off St Martin's Lane called Brief Encounter but I doubt if they served pints of bitter!

We had a pub here called The Ferret and Trouser Leg but alas I could not find a movie title with the same name though.

My local's called The Happy Landing - and I think there are a few old films by that name.



However, judging by the amount of times it gets successfully raided, I don't think many people actually go there to drink!

Well all pubs are named after something but the Launder and Gilliat film is named after the pub, (it's based on a play called Meet a Body?). While the Kinglsey Amis story (tv play with Jeremy Brett) is about the myth, IIRC.



Favourite film pub? The one in Passport to Pimlico looks fun.

There's a pub in Cornwall called The Bucket of Blood (the Lamb & Flag in Covent Garden used to go under this name) nothing to do with Roger Corman though.



There's quite a few Fox and Hounds around although I'm sure they predate the Disney film!



Almost named after a film is The Quiet Woman in York. The sign shows a woman carrying her own severed head!



And didn't I read on an old thread that there's a pub called The Robert Shaw now?

Steering this back towards the topic if I may - though a combination of pubs and old films is a winner for me too - it's amazing how many forum users in general (not here!!) resort to ridicule and criticism of fellow users at the slightest opportunity. I've stopped using several as a result.

That's why I only use this one. IMHO it's the best one on the web with the friendliest users. The knowledge (and humour) on here is incredible and the discussions rarely become abusive. In general most people are polite and are able to eloquently put their point of view across without resorting to unpleasantness, although I do see that language that can usually be found on other forums has appeared here on occasions recently .... 'a quagmire of sick' was a phrase recently used by someone to describe a film. Not nice and not clever.

We need to be careful though that we do not fall into the trap of being uncritical or sycophantic. Negative views/reviews/responses are just as valid as positive ones, but should be constructive and polite. Gratuitous abuse is unforgiveable.

Even here we have a pub/bar called the Red Lion, but it does not pull a decent pint, there's not even a pint to be had, it's all bottled, and non of it decent. The last decent pint I had was in KL, but at least it was a good pint of Guinness with a decent meal of Irish stew, and for my lady, John Dorry. It is rumoured there are some really decent bars in Manila serving really decent beer, but let those owners prove themselves, I can't find them.
