How do you get a picture next to your name ?

Thought i'd put my 1,000th post to some practical use. How do you get one of those pictures (on the left) next to your name ?

Click on user cp on the toolbar above then click on Avatar settings, pick a pic or click browse & upload one you have on your pc.

Nahhhh......just do as Caine says, then press 'Browse' and see where it leads you - it should be to all the picture files on your PC.

Once you've chosen the picture that you want, just 'double-click' it and it will be automatically entered into the correct box.

When you 'Save Changes', your picture will appear next to your name.

Billy - follow these instructions

Before you start, figure out what picture you want to use. You can use a picture from another site or a picture in one of the files on your computer. If you want to take it from a website, go to the one you want, and when you get to the picture, run the mouse along the address space at the top (which will highlight as you do it) and press the Ctrl and c keys at the same time.

First sign in to http://www.britmovie.co.uk/forums

At the top just under the pictures are some boxes. Move the cursor (the little arrow which moves when you move your mouse) to the one marked USER CP and using the left hand mouse button, click on it once.

This will take you to a new screen and midway down on the left are a number of headings - one of which is EDIT AVATAR. Move the mouse again so that you can click on that.

Once in teh next screen, scroll down a bit by moving the mouse on to the sidebar on the right hand side. Pull it down until you see a couple of things that look like radio buttons (which in fact are called radio buttons). Below an array of pictures of you will see one saying 'Use Custom Avatar'. Click it so that you can see the black dot in the middle of it.

You now have 2 options. If you want to use a picture from another site, you have to add the address of the site which you can do my pressing the Ctrl and v keys at the same time. This will print the address you want to use.

If you want to use a picture from your computer, left hand click the BROWSE button. This will show you the various bits and pieces and files you have on your computer, so double click on the file you want and when you find the picture you want, click on the OPEN button.

Finally - after you have taken the option you want - and this is the most important - click on the yellow button that says SAVE CHANGES. Give it a moment or two and then you will be able to go back in and post and you will see what all stars dream of - your name above the picture!

As for the avatar:



Click on your name, that will bring you to a page that contains your profile. Click where it says Customize Profile in the upper right corner across from your name. Look under the Control Panel on the left hand side of the next page and beneath Settings and Options it will say, Edit Avatar. Click on that link. You can choose one of the pre-defined avatars offered by the site, or upload your own from your desktop. Max size of a custom maee one is 128 px square so if necessary, resize it in Photoshop or PSP.

If that doesn't work try switching off your PC & switching it back on again.
