yes I spotted that too ...sad : (
According to the Double Deckers website, the actor who played Doughnut in this well liked and remembered children's programme passed away on March 15th.
53 seems a young age to have passed away, apparantly he was a retired physicist in later life. Assuming it's not size related, I wondered what caused his demise?
Apparently a heart attack. Dont know if he remained the size he was in Here Comes the Double Deckers but some posters to other sites assume it was his size that caused his demise, when of course most sensible people realise a fatal heart attack can happen to anybody thick or thin, healthy or unhealthy.
He had just took early retirement and was about to start a new career/life .
Now who keeps telling us "we are all living longer" oh yes the government and pension companies-what a cop out!
Thanks, Arfur. I am currently trawling through the Obituary threads here and was reminded of this actor. Douglas Simmonds does have a Wikipedia profile but he's not among their Deaths in March 2011, so I'll be adding his name to my own list. Can't understand why it wasn't automatically included in theirs.
From the Rodnews blog's Here Come the Double Deckers page:
R.I.P.
For the record, Douglas died 15th March, the same day as TV & Radio presenter Keith Fordyce and cricketer Peter Loader.
