I remember him from First Men In the Moon. Good actor. RIP Mr. Judd.
I understand that actor Edward Judd died on Feb. 24th, age 79. I know him mainly through his science fiction films from the 1960s, notably The Day The Earth Caught Fire; also: First Men In The Moon and Island of Terror.

I'd hang fire til official confirmation as EJ has passed away more times than I care to remember.

Indeed- and don't I know it.

There was a long thread about EJ's demise a few years ago.
I made enquiries to Equity who confirmed that he was (at that time) still with us.

My tribute will look a bit silly if he is still alive. This is what happens when stars disappear from public view. Frank Ifield is one of those who've been subject to such rumours [alive and well and still living in Australia as far as I know].
At a guess, I would say that it has been moved pending confirmation,name='Reeldigger']Sorry.... I meant to post this on the obituary page. Haven't the slightest idea how it ended up here. My apologies. Perhaps the administrators will see fit to move this thread to its appropriate place.

If he is still with us, I hope he has a great sense of humour! Otherwise, how would you be? One false alarm might be vaguely amusing, but more than that would have you wondering why people were in such a darn hurry to see you despatched!
.....OK, OK, I know when I'm not wanted!![]()

A mate of mine lived near Eddie in the 80s and used to drink in the same pub as him. Bernie said he was a great chap and a real laugh so I guess he might find it funny.
Much as I hope this is wrong, I fear the worst. Does anyone know if his wife, Norma Ronald, is still with us?
His 'death' is listed on wikipedia but nowhere else AFAIK .... I can find nothing to indicate Norma is not still with us.
Some poster on Roobarb's reckons Edward has sadly passed away this week. Lets hope it is another unfounded rumour.
Apparently Edward's death was announced in this week's print edition of The Stage.

There's nothing in the online edition but one or two other sites are now posting this 'news'.

Once a story gets web space the whole thing tends to become self-perpetuating regardless of any factual content. The only way to be certain about this one is if someone who really wants to get to the bottom of this 'story' to check the register of deaths.
Or phone him up and see if he answers.![]()

Personally, I shan't believe it until I see an official obituary printed.

According to Wikipedia......
It was believed he died in Wimbledon in July 2004, homeless but this has since been proved incorrect. Apparently, he now lives at a retirement home in Mitcham.
He died on the 24th of February 2009, at 11.30AM.
Why do so many people say.... "(so-and-so) has sadly passed away?"
How do they know the person was sad while passing away?
Well, they don't, and what they should be saying is....
Sadly, so-and-so has passed away.
I've resisted bringing this up many times, because I don't want to appear picky and no doubt I make mistakes, too, but a misplaced word can completely change the meaning of statement.
Why do you think that it means the DECEASED is sad about their passing?name='ShirlGirl']Why do so many people say.... "(so-and-so) has sadly passed away?"

I have always believed that the sentiment is spoken about the occasion and for the people who have been bereaved.
