    Daily Telegraph

    obituary:

Mike Seeger, who died on August 7 aged 75, was an American folk music icon who rediscovered forgotten performers and inspired new listeners to the genre, among them Bob Dylan, who called Seeger a "father figure".

In 1958, Seeger was a founder member of the New Lost City Ramblers, who reinvented folk music which had had its genesis decades earlier.

The group was a catalyst of the folk wave of the next decade which swept along Dylan, the Grateful Dead, and, more recently, the Carolina Chocolate Drops......
