Mike Seeger, who died on August 7 aged 75, was an American folk music icon who rediscovered forgotten performers and inspired new listeners to the genre, among them Bob Dylan, who called Seeger a "father figure".
In 1958, Seeger was a founder member of the New Lost City Ramblers, who reinvented folk music which had had its genesis decades earlier.
The group was a catalyst of the folk wave of the next decade which swept along Dylan, the Grateful Dead, and, more recently, the Carolina Chocolate Drops......

He was half brother of Pete Seeger, who amazingly is now 90!
