    More computer updates:

Will have to buy the latest Photoshop Elements 10 (I have 2.0 which is not compatible with Windows 7) and.....

a new scanner. My Canon Lide 50 is not compatible with Windows 7, either. Saw an affordable one for $60. at Office Depot so I may buy one next week.

Well I have next week off of work (many American companies give their employees Christmas week off) so Mr and I will have lots of time to play, when I'm not writing. :)

I'm off to the wilds of Welsh West Wales in a few hours. Far from any mobile phone coverage and most internet connections

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year

Yes, Mr Al & Mr Paca are in the field at the bottom of the garden as I write this and they contributed to a nice scarf that I got yesterday

Getting a bit worried about Mrs Chevy, who never moans about anything much. She's been in a lot of pain recently which exacerbates when she eats. Things came to a head in the week leading up to Christmas and I "gave her that stare" then posed a few structured questions.

I reckon she has a problem with her temporo-mandibular joint ( the only part of the jaw which articulates ).....she has all the symptoms

She has an urgent appointment scheduled with a maxillo-facial consultant who I trust ( I was even on TV with him in 1998!)

Being a typical former nurse, she makes a fractious patient at the best of times and doesn't want to be a nuisance

    We'll see what he says?

    My VCR is now shot.

I knew this would happen - there's been something wrong with the SP for awhile now. Not going to get it repaired. Mr T suggested getting one that also has a DVD player attached to it - not a bad idea. We're going down to Wal-Mart tomorrow to get one.

    I need some strawberries.

One of mine was looking a bit dodgy as well just before I came to Wales. I still prefer recording on tape for short time usage. When I get back home I'll check it out but I might be looking for a new one soon as well

I'd recommend one of the Toshiba combi's that can be purchased from Argos, etc; I've had one about a year now and I love it, you can't set the timer for VHS but it does record onto tape, it's the HDD for recording I use all the time, different picture qualities depending on what speed you record, SP is very good for regular recording, it also has a mini-fan attached at the back to keep the workings cool.

If it wasn`t for Mr FG and his love of modern technology I would probably still be living with an old video recorder. The latest things don`t bother me, I`d watch video on a little portable as long as I could watch my favorite flicks!

OK we went out and bought a new VCR today - nice VCR/DVD combo, with the VCR portion, television recordable (not having cable tv, don't think that feature will get much use) At $69.00 I can't complain, Mr. can use the DVD part when he wants and I can watch my tapes with when I want.

Same here! But my old Panasonic VCR had a good life span (20 years or so) do they even make Panasonic anymore? LOL

Funny how everything breaks down at once - my old laptop, then my old VCR - but replacements are affordable, which is good, and I am happy. :)

We've been relying on what we had stored on our DVD Hard Drive to see us through the christmas/new year bilge

At times, it's been a lifesaver FG
