Quite agree Dave. Thier lack of knowledge of American history leaves an awful lot to be desired as well and in no doubt the same will happen in dear old Blighty because of the diversity of different cultures there now.

What will become of the likes of Churchill, Drake, Raleigh, William the Conqueror, Montgomery, Shakespear and the history of the Commonwealth and the former British Empire? I am all for learning about history from all parts of the world, including that of other people from other countries now residing in the UK, but we should not forget about the history of the UK and ensure that it's tought to everyone at school.

Well theres always an odd one out.

I stand by what I wrote. I have visited the USA many times and met many average Americans along the way. Very nice people too but I am always surprised how little they know about the rest of the world.

I have to laugh at the news broadcasts on American television that go under the title "World News" - when the vast majority of news items shown are about America and Americans.
Maybe they still think that the world revolves around America.

Did you read in the Times where our troops fighting for their lives in those far off places, advocate a Military Coup to get rid of this Government. Because when they come home they fear that there will be nothing here, except a bankrupt society, full of scroungers, ruled by a Government who have completely lost the plot! Sounds a bit like the rumour I heard in another forum that mention of the Holocaust had been removed from the National Curriculum whereas, in fact, it was one school saying something on the lines that they'd have to treat it carefully.

Still, you can fool some of the people all of the time.
