Exactly.
But I did look for it and there's only one mention of a coup on a page talking about or to Mike Jackson - and that's a comment from a web reader.

Mike Jackson never said it and even the Mail's reporter never said it

I must admit I was a bit taken aback the other day. I can't remember which channel but they had some voxpop soldiers being shown being interviewed, waxing lyrical about how well they were equippped now etc. etc........ I couldn't help but wonder where they'd voxpopped in from and why they were being featured on the national/regional TV, and whose idea it was to have serving soldiers saying anything to the public one way or another about the conduct of the Military Logistics. Would the same soldier have had the freedom, in uniform, to have been interviewed saying it was all a shambles and he hadn't the slightest idea what good he was doing anyone?

Propaganda usually has two sides.

Well it's reliable enough for the Daily Hate Mail
At least somebody actually said it. That saved them the trouble of making it up like they usually have to

France is losing it's appeal by each passing day.

More riots in the suburbs of Paris. Ethnic groups again attacking police and trashing and setting light to shops and vehicles.

This follows a nine day national strike that ended recently. More disruptions expected.

Plus you have all those French people living there.

The country of romance? I don't think so.

Dave.

I saw that too...it made a change from all the retired or armchair warriors complaining about lack of equipment, money, all Labour's fault etc just ahead of the spending review....(Always the army, too, never the other services) like their budgets are down to their last billion. I thought the soldier was probably telling the truth from his end of the war....there were logistical problems at the beginning, less now. Well, Quelle surprise....

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

Now I've had time to think, I believe they were interviewing returning soldiers at the dockside or wherever. I think you're probably right. The trouble, I worry, is that the military should be like the Queen: they should never complain and never explain............ otherwise, where does it all end?

True enough, but what with all the ex-top brass mouthing off recently, it was nice to get a view from the trenches, as it were.

It's a soldier's right to complain. Remember Andy Brock in 49th Parallel
The government says, "We want men to fight the Nazis, join today." So I joined. I figured they were in a hurry. That was three hundred and eighty seven days ago. Four divisions and a lot of drafts have gone overseas, and what's number B987642 doing? Guarding the Chippewa Canal. Who'd want to steal it anyway?

Having returned from a lengthy spell in British Columbia, I can well understand why people want to leave the UK. If I had the means to do so then I'd be out there for good - unfortunately I don't so I'll console myself with the fact I've been lucky enough to have seen, if not really lived, the dream.

Biggest sacrifice? For me, it would be mostly heritage.

I'm a product of a different time. I wander the streets of Newcastle sometimes and to be honest I feel like a ghost looking into a place I no longer recognise and don't particularly want to interact with at times. It seem that if I've reached that point of thinking then it's time for me to move on, although for economic reasons as much as anything else, probably within the UK.

I read where ex Smiths star Morrissey has sparked controversy by saying British identity has disappeared because the country has been "flooded" by immigration.

He suggested that immigration was one of the reasons he would not move back to Britain.

Morrissey has spent most of the last decade living in Los Angeles and Rome. Some may suggest that those cities have immigrant problems of their own.
