Ah. So now we understand the vitriol.

The films I had in mind weren't written by Blair or Livingstone but from novels by those trendy left-wingers Dickens, Conan Doyle, Edgar Wallace, and many, many more.

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

which famous writer wrote a philosophical piece about how people often try and escape their problems by physically moving to another part of the world? the point of his commentary was that more often that not it is futile to run away to another land because your problems and hang ups will soon follow you because they are locked in your head rather than in your surroundings? was it Hemmingway?.....its going to bug me now!......

Wasn't Hemmingway the writer who kept moving to different parts of the world!

It is possibly true, and many couples who constantly move house all the time are really shielding the fact that their marriage is fraught with problems, and the constant change of environment is just a cop out rather than sit down and address their real issues. they just address their address instead!

"...the chairman of Littlewoods stores made a Keynote speech!"

Oh you silly, silly person. You think I think like this because I am unhappy?
You've been reading to many psychology books.

Of course there were footpads and robbers way back then. But we got civilised. and wiped that out.
Then the Jamaicans brought it over

Mrs Harley & I are looking to move to France, mostly for the weather. We don't want to be Brits in the Sun but become part of local life.

The crime in the UK, the 'PCness', the media, the traffic, whatever else, I'm sure people do choose all or some of them as justification. I get nervous about allocating issues to particular groups. Stats can do anything. 90% of mugging in Brixton is carried out by Black yoof (An example only folks) 90% of people that live in Brixton may well be black. You can make the stats fit any angle you want. AND if you accept mugging is down to them, then football hooliganism is a real home grown success story. Vandalism as well. 'People are bad, not races'.

We all make choices. I hope, if and when we go to France we make the choice for the right reason IN favour of going. Not because of negative factors.

I'll always be proud of being English and will cheer on Les blancs every 6 nations.....for all the good that will do...........

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

Just read a copy of the Daily Mail or the Daily Express. They're always alluding to some golden age when everything was perfect. The trouble is that nobody can actually remember when it was

When??? Dear God, man.....when was London ever a crime-free paradise?? in the twenties?? thirties??? Have you heard of the South London Razor Gangs?? it was their exploits in the twenties and thirties that inspired Brighton Rock...During the War?? When do you think the Krays and their ilk got established?? Thieving and killing and smuggling under the cover of the blackout...read Frankie Fraser's autobiography if you're unsure...the fifities?? Back with the razors and bike chains, with exWD or War souvenir hanguns if you were lucky... The Blue Lamp anyone?? ....my stepfather was in the Met back then, and the West Indian community were not the problem...

I wouldn't waste my time on a psychology book. I read almost exclusively on film and British history. Perhaps you should try doing the same. Putting your vitriol and bigotry down to disappointment was obviously too charitable. Perhaps its plain ignorance.

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

Fight! Fight!

You folks certainly know how to mix it up when you get going. "Mix it up" as in fighting, not as in confusion.

Is it over?...

Here they come!
The 'You're a bigotted, Nazi, Racist, Moron' brigade.
That's as far as they get.
They have no counter opinion as usual. They just have to rely on the personal attacks

I have no proof of you being a Nazi, but your replies leave no doubt as to your Racist ,Bigotted , Moron credentials.

I don't like the Mulsim culture. I don't like the way they treat women.
Does that make me a racist? It does in your books.

I don't like the West Indian culture.
They imported mugging. (Yes I remember first hand when they did

So all Muslims are what ? wife beaters ? and all West indians are muggers ?

You are an Ignoramus of the highest order who for some reason wants to insult, denigrate ,and generally mock decent people who don't conform to your blinkered Idealism.
I would love to know what your "Real" problem with society is ,you seem to hate England and anything connected with it. Does it make you feel better to despise other cultures and races ? and how long before something happens to make you resent Vancouver too ?

I actually feel sorry for you , and would like you to know that although everything may not be rosy over here,It IS still the greatest country in the World ,

I May be getting older ,but I refuse to grow up
