Default ex pat

I moved to Greece 4 years ago.
No regerets - the language is a problem but generally people make concessins for that. No complaints about healthcare can see a doctor on the day I want (no interrogation by unqualified receptionist) There is still respect for family life but I do miss pork pies and cornish pasties

No unfortunately(or fortunately) we haven't got sattelite TV.
Followed the fortunes of a Dutch Lesbian couple who moved nearby. The locals were amazed - now that would have made a good documentary Especially when they did a moonnlight flit with the bathroom fittings and owing rent.

No Custard Tarts, Pork Pies, or Cornish Pasties abroad? (probably no Black pudding either!)........just as well I've never considered moving abroad!

I recall being on Holiday in the Almeria Region of Spain a couple of years ago, there seemed to be a good many 'expats' in the area, but in the main there didn't seem to be much 'to do', unless you play Golf or go Sailing (which I don't!), and I'm not one for lounging by a Pool for hours on end either, so I guess once the initial novelty had worn off I'd be totally bored with expat life

I'm staying in good ole Blighty, if it's good enough for our beloved Queen, then it's good enough for me!

An American tourist and a Chelsea Pensioner chatting and enjoying a Cigarette together whilst watching the changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace Last Summer, it's simple, candid moments like this one that make me proud to be British!

Ah, but little pleasures like that, even though there are lots of them to be had, aren't reported in the media so many people don't know they exist - certainly not anyone who takes their view of the country from what is reported in the media.

And I do so agree, it's the lots of little pleasures like that one that make this such a nice place to live in. In fact if it was any nicer then it'd almost be too nice

You can get all those things in Oz (even black pudding now.... shudder!). Unfortunately, they aren't nearly as good as yours. We need more Pommy pastry-chefs over here - I think they seem to be outnumbered by Koreans and Cambodians.

Swans, immigrants, blood pudding, tourists, the Queen and crime - all in just the last few fun-filled posts.

This is quite a thread.

Question

I like America.

I like Israel.

I think the Palestinian people should get a fair shake.

I like England.

I respect other people being proud of their heritage, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Kwa Zulu, Pakistan....................

Am I mad?

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

Steve, really, shame on you.

The present Queen has more British blood in her than any other monarch for centuries. The Queen is 50% British, courtesy of her mother.

The affectation of those who, even in my youth, referred to the "Hanovarian Usurpers" is a trifle passe!
