Brown's a spineless b***ard who won't risk losing his Premiership so early on, he would be totally humiliated. In a couple of years when he's made his fortune like Bliar and Two Jags and the rest of their cronies, he won't mind so much!

The rest of Europe laugh at us because we are totally submissive when it comes to politics, and we just let these unqualified grotesques walk all over us, and show us no respect whatsoever. You have to remember that this shower of sh*t are not listening to anybody. To quote a line from The Worst Week of My Life "It's time they got out in the real world and smelled the piss in the lifts!"

Like the Tories in 1997,this government is tired and clueless. It is making things up as they go along (if not nicking other parties' ideas). Its cabinet are nonentities and faceless (which you could say for the last 11 years mob around the table). Mind,I don't blame Brown in entirety - Bliar had ten years to cock things up big style.

I agree.......partly.
But remember it followed his previous response that misrepresented what I actually said.

I never misrepresent anything. In this case, I just asked a question

Hey Steve....love ya madly,Bubba and I enjoy our good-natured banter.

But ya gotta remember......you are The Secret Srutinizer on this forum and perhaps a little self-moderation afore ye riposte might be inorder.

I always feel it's slightly incongruous for Forum moderators to take such an active participation.

Behave yerself, Big Guy........Freddies got his eye on you

This was your misrepresentation.

As I pointed out, I never said anything of the sort. For you to ask if I really thought that would suggest I had said it.

Now you can tell people that you didn't misrepresent me if you like. You can say you merely asked a question.

I'll just let others judge.

It looks like a question to me. They are the ones that end with a question mark aren't they?
If I thought you had said it I wouldn't ask if you thought it.

It certainly looked like a question to me.

Mind you, I find it rather odd that someone who has forsaken this country appears to take such a morbid interest in every act of violence that happens here - couldn't be because there is no news in Canada, could it?

All the best

This is getting silly.

You asked if I really thought it. (my emphasis)

To anyone looking in and not having read the earlier posts, they would probably think you were asking because you found it hard to believe I could think that.

The logical conclusion they would come to for you asking if I really believed it would be because I had suggested that myself would it not?

Let's be real here. If I asked you - publicly - if you really believed that women should be paid less than men for the same jobs (just as an example), don't you think other people would get the impression you'd said something along those lines?

Or would you simply think I was asking if you thought it because I didn't think you'd said it?

Yes, I'm aware that last line sounds silly. As it did when you used it.

A history teacher of mine once claimed some nations lack confidence (not a problem for those Down Under or in the US:-), and I'm wondering if some ex-pats seek reassurance about their move by wallowing in bad news from home. I'll sometimes shake my head in disbelief at the college campus shootings in the States but my morbid curiosity never runs so far as wanting to know about every drive-by shooting or 7-Eleven robbery.

Why do some people feel they know everything about others just from a few words and a location.

Why would you feel I have forsaken the UK? I met someone and fell in love. They happened to live in Canada. To be with them I had to move. It was not feasible to move an entire family to the UK.

You shouldn't be so judgmental.

This thread is about reasons why people have left the UK....recurring reason is violence/unsocial behaviour etc. And because I state my opinion - along with others - that means I have a morbid interest in every act of violence?

It's called awareness. There's a discussion going on here. I saw something in the paper of relevance to that discussion. I commented. Simple.

Perhaps you could remind us of something positive you have posted here about the UK.

I'm heartily sick and tired of whingers and moaners. I've left one forum in the last few days because of their continual rants and I'm close to leaving this one as well.

All the best

If only more would jump ship I'd be a might happier. We might be able to stop the urban sprawl into green belt... and I'll have somewhere to walk the dog.

If you were to ask a question like that, I, and I expect many other people, would think it was because you wanted to know the answer to the question.

I think you are reading far too much into one simple question that could be answered with a simple yes or no, or with a short explanation. I agree, this has got silly. But it wasn't me steering it

Although I must admit to a curiosity as to why you feel the need to post every item of bad news you find about the country, without balancing it with any good news. That's why I called you a gloomy Gus (or whatever it was) and that's why I asked if you thought things were really as bad as portrayed in these reports you keep posting.

I wasn't putting words in your mouth or accusing you of anything or of having said anything, beyond appearing to be a gloomy Gus, I just wanted to know the answer to my question.

Sometimes the most simple explanation is the true one
