Judging by the ridiculous state of public transport, gridlocked and pot-holed roads and absolutely no strategy for transport in the future I think the PM must have appointed Will Hay as Minister of Transport!

Last year one of the wooden carriage doors was sticking so a jack plane was produced and the problem solved in two minutes.

No wonder the traffic situation is getting worse in the UK.

A young female driver was confronted by a male traffic warden in his 40's, writing her a parking ticket outside St.Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London recently.
The warden then offered to tear up the ticket if the female performed a sexual act on him.
The young lady got into her car and locked all the doors before driving off.
The lady commented "I was disgusted. He's obviously a sicko. He told me that if I gave him a bl** j** he would tear up my ticket."

The many hazards of parking in London these days.

Dave.

Apart from the fact that once a ticket has been issued you cannot tear it up, it's already on the system. But you do see it all the time on London streets, young women on their knees on the pavement gobbling off traffic wardens and wheel clampers. So common in fact that passers-by don't even stop to look any more!

Even more worrying is that the expensive government think tank on political correctness ("polih-ih-cull correckness") is being restructured because of its top-heavy tier of middle and senior management. A spokesperson said, " It's a case of too many chiefs and not enough native Americans!"

"...the chairman of Littlewoods stores made a Keynote speech!"

In London a parking ticket has to be placed on your windscreen and the warden has to take a photo of it in situ with a small digital camera to make it count. Thats why when you get back to your car and the warden is in the process of writing a ticket, while you remonstrate and argue the toss about it ,the warden will silently carry on writing the ticket and placing it on your window for his photo. Gotcha! Accepted advice is not to hang about arguing with the warden when he is in the process of writing a ticket, jump in your car pronto and speed off before he can actually issue it properly and that beats tearing it up!

Urban myth

If you drive off they'll just mail the penalty notice to you

When you think about, the whole system is one scam, like government approved protection money, only they don't bother to protect your property.

"Oh! Pete!"

I once got a parking ticket in a council run car park. I had paid so I couldn't understand why I had got the ticket. I wrote and complained and I received a letter in reply which contained a photograph of the ticket I had placed on my dashboard. It had slipped behind an air freshener thingy and the date had been obscured. As I had kept that ticket I proved I had paid, but the traffic warden had indeed photographed my car park ticket.

Some might do it, especially in private or council run car parks. But it's not legally necessary for them to photograph it to issue a ticket and enforce it.

I had one recently where I'd paid and I got a penalty notice. I didn't notice the penalty notice tucked behind the wiper (on the passenger side) until I got home and I still had the ticket in the car. When I queried it and offered to show them the ticket they said it might have fallen off the dash where I put it but they were prepared to believe the council official who had issued the ticket.

They had no photographic proof, neither did I. If it had gone to court it would have been my word against the attendant's and would have cost me quite a bit of money for a very uncertain outcome. So i paid up.

That's only about the 2nd or 3rd parking ticket I've had in 30+ years of driving

That one was my second and last (so far) .... the first one (which I had to pay) was when I parked in what used to be a 2 hour zone that had been changed to 30 mins. Dickhead here didn't notice the new signs!

parking and traffic wardens used to be under the control of the police ,as a professional driver i never had a problem with them ,always found them to be fair , then in the mid 90s parking offences were decriminalised handed over to private enforcers who have to bid to win the contract with the local authority to reduce costs ,now its become such a farce " parking attendants " have to walk round with a police escort for fear of assault !, hows that for progress !! make the job twice as expensive and tie up police time
