Britain has been trying to deport Qatada for the last three years. He is currently being held in Belmarsh jail.
He could now be released from jail within months after the Court of Appeal verdict.

The Jordanian father of five, can now expect to receive 1,000 quid a month in handouts, plus other benefits from the British government.
The British taxpayer also faces a bill of tens of thousands of pounds to keep the cleric under 24 hour surveillance by security services.

At the same time 12 Libyans, part of a group that were considered as direct threats to British security, were also cleared to remain in Britain for the rest of their lives by a second rights court ruling.

Terrible isn't it, the way that people are regarded as innocent until proved guilty and not allowed to be extradited to countries where they face torture. What is the world coming to?

Did this spin on the facts come from the Daily Wail?

I take it you don't own a car? In the old days you could drive around with an out of date tax disc and get away with it until some eagle eyed copper or traffic warden spotted your error. Now all car details are held on a central computer and are cross referenced so your MOT, and tax disc expiry, insurance and ownership document (with your name and address) are all held together. It is no idle claim when the DVLA say they know who you are and where you live and when your tax disc runs out, they do! All the info is on a very simple data base which is not really that clever, so not sure how the DVLA would apply the technology in catching terrorists unless they stated terrorism as their occupation on their car insurance document.

Don't they put that as their occupation on their passports as well?

Maybe we need that immigration form that they use in the US, asking if you plan to overthrow the government. I'm sure that's caught lots of people over the years

With all the poison and bile in British newspapers, would you want to eat anything that had been in contact with it?

When J B Priestley visited the US for the first time, to that specific question on the immigration form he replied "Sole purpose of visit!".

its a good job we didnt rely on traffic cameras so much in the days of the yorkshire ripper ,he was caught for having a tail light out ,the police officers involved then searched his car ,cant get any cameras to do that much ,the guy doing the dangerous driving or in an unroadworthy vehicle is usually up to other criminal activity as well ,

I was just watching a BBC2 schools programme as I had a late breakfast and I wondered how the Daily Mail would deal with a sudden influx of 3 million people

I've noticed that lorries taking wrecked cars in bulk to the breaker's yard now have Duck tape obliterating each car's number plates to stop them being copied!

Default Brown Raises Tax On The Poor.

British PM Gordon Brown is facing a rebellion from members of his own Labour Party amid an attempt to raise taxes on the poorest wage earners.
Under a new UK tax system standard income tax has been cut from 22% to 20% and tax credits raised - but the lowest 10p tax band has been scrapped entirely.

Labour party members have warned Brown that millions of society's poorest will be hit by the move but Brown is refusing to back down.

It has been estimated that over 5 million Britons will be worse off by up to 232 pounds a year.

Dave.
