An image pilfered from the www close to me in leafy Hampshire, not a Tory politician (is Cameron an even bigger toady to the Americans than Blair?) or a hoody in sight thank God.
Images that sum up the UK today.......
Do you have any 'state of the nation' photographs from the media to show overseas folks what the UK is really like
in 2010 ?
Here is one to start.......

From the media? No. They only tend to publish the most shocking photos. They rarely publish lots of photos of all the nice things that we see every dayname='julian_craster' date='22 July 2010 - 04:13 PM' timestamp='1279811625' post='455016']

I was rather hoping that we might move away from the chocolate box nostalgia tourist board imagery (cricket on the village green/thatched cottages/stately homes/quaint old inns etc) .
I am pleased to see that some folks are taking the hint !
Personally, I cannot recall a time when Britain has been a more divided society, not at peace with itself.
In my first picture we have two men, divided by age, birth and education, who inhabit two completely different worlds....
Shrovetide football at Ashbourne. It's been going on since the 12th century so it's been indicative of my bit of the UK for 800 years or so.

Hi, Gog,
Am I seeing things or is that a man's head superimposed on a lady's body...the one on the far right looking sideways with a bag on her wrist and walking with children?

Britain of today?........multi-cultural and one of diversity, which I love to embrace, I don't personally like focussing on negativity, you've always had your young hoodlums throughout history and always will, it's just the luck of the draw if you're born into a priveleged background or a poor one, do we really want blanket state-control of people?.......I know what the East Germans liberated in 1989 would say, there's just as many 'toffs' who have been naughty and punished as other groups.

I'm more intrigued by why Googglebox thinks a homeless American - in America - is representative of Britain today....![]()
