Â* Just realised that Â*e mail Â*will automatically appear in Hotmail

in the past with Â*yahoo, you always had to hit Â*inbox Â*or Â*refresh the page for new e mail to appear.

So now I keep Â*my hotmail page open and the e mail Â*just pop in as if by magic Â*!.... kind of neat is nt it ?

    YES, Â*infact I Â*downloaded Â*firefox Â*yesterday.

Ive just been under a massive attack and half my stuff seems to have been knobbled

for Â*eg Â* faststone, Â* bs viewer, Â*hj split... Â*about half of my Â*software Â*programmes have been knobbled and I Â*cant get them

I ll have to go and Â*re download the software for each one.

    What Â*caused it ? Â* maybe some Â*kind of Â*trojan Â*? Â*I Â*dont Â*know.

    Â*Im a Â* torrent Â*addict , so maybe the infection Â*came in that Â*way Â*?

I use firefox as my main browser so its a bit annoying to get an Â*e mail notif from Â*brit movieÂ*

I click the link and it does nt get on the forum.

Ah well... Â*opera is a great little browser, Ill just have to use that in here.

Hotmail seems to be doing it now, Â* the e mails are popping in automatically

must admit, I get over 1000 e mails per day in there !

XN Â*View Â*is Â*a cool piece of kit and free on the net

    go here

    http://download.cnet.com/XnView/3000...-10067391.html

It allows you to view your photos and jpegs Â*and perhaps adjust or resize Â*each one as you go along

    very handy

Its another of my programmes that were knobbled the other day Â*( perhaps by a trojan ? )

I ve just re downloaded it from the Â*net and Â*re installed Â*it .

I think you'd better sort out those Trojans first before you suggest anything to others.

Still though...........I think you'd better get yourself a better anti-virus programme, and heed the warnings some sites produce through that anti-virus programme.

There's a lot of dodgy stuff out there. So take care what you download or not.

i Â*was going to get round to Irfan view in good time....Steve has jumped the gun

Xn view is I think great for going thru your pics and cropping them Â*if you wish ... and for other adjustments

I use Irfan view a lot Â*for Â*getting Â*a pic of my screen and then Â*pasting it into Â*Irfanview.

the Â*key Â* top Â*right of your keyboard ... Â*Prt Scr Sys Rq...... Â*will take a photo of your screen when you press it

Then open up Â* Irfan view Â* Â*... press Â*Ctrl... Â*bottom left.... keep it pressed in and Â*hit Â* Â*v

a pic of your screen should appear on Â*Irfan view... then you can crop as you wish and save the result as a jpeg.

A very useful feature when you think of it.... it means that anything that appears on the internet you can save as a jpeg !

Yes Onedin Â*get the download, these are very tried and tested bits of kit

Ive had irfan and Â*xnview for about 8 years, Â*no probs atall !

Â*a very good tip Jim, Â*thanks

Funny thing is, Â*just before the attack Â*I downloaded Â*a picture grab Â*add on to

fire fox Â*... I downloaded it from Â*Hippo

Â*I wonder if something came in with that download ?

Anyway Ive since deleted the add on Â*from Â*fire fox .

If you don't want the whole screen, but just part of it, have you tried Screen Grab Pro? Despite the use of "Pro" in their title, they do offer a free version

Another advantage is that Screen Grab will save directly as a JPG (or GIF) whereas the PRT SCR saves it as a BMP (Bitmap) which although accurate is a huge file.
