You still dont get it ........
Just so there is no further misunderstanding I have posted this link.
BBC News - Baker Street singer Gerry Rafferty dies at age of 63
My reference to the waste of a great talent being that he turned his back on the very industry that made him big. Perhaps with good reason. I am a great admirer of his work. He was brilliant. I'm just disappointed he let the evils of alocoholism get the better of his great career. It's very sad to lose a great musician of Rafferty's calibre.

You still dont get it ........
The best way to remember Gerry is to play his music. City to City is one of my favourite albums and I had it blasting away in the car yesterday in his memory.
Apart from the obvious one Baker Street, which I think is one of the greatest pieces of music of all-time, I really enjoyed listening to much of his music.

To elucidate would be futile ;(

Gerry Rafferty: Right Down the Line.
Gerry Rafferty, who died in January, was one of Scotland's best loved singer/songwriters, famous around the world for hits such as Baker Street and Stuck In The Middle With You.
This ArtWorks Scotland film, narrated by David Tennant, tells the story of Rafferty's life through his often autobiographical songs and includes contributions from Gerry's daughter Martha and brother Jim, friends and colleagues including Billy Connolly, John Byrne and Joe Egan, admirers such as Tom Robinson and La Roux, and words and music from Rafferty himself.
A good documentary, only saw this last night, hence the late notice.

Very sad news. "Baker Street" is one of my all time favorites (who cannot like that wailing sax in the song?) and of course the refrain from "Stuck in the Middle With You": "Clowns to the left of me jokers to the right"
RIP Gerry
Yes, I agree. "Baker Street" is one of the outstanding songs. It brings back memories of the late 70s like very few other songs; there is something haunting about it. "Stuck in the Middle" was a radio favorite for so many years. Both were played constantly long after they 'peaked'.
Short notice but on BBCi
