I suppose one of the most famous American "horror names" is that of Ima Hogg, Texan Governor's daughter who was named after the heroine of one of her uncle's poems. See:

All about Ima Hogg's Life

Parents should also be very careful about initials and how they shape up. My own initials are "ggmk" which resulted in my being called Horsey all through school. As I was devoted to them, I was pleased rather than upset by this moniker. I had a friend whose forenames were Barbara and Anne, her last name was Garrick, and Baggy she became, and still is to her classmates.

... or where they were born; one of my friends would have had to call her son Bus Stop!

From IMDb: "Rip Torn was born Elmore Rual Torn, Jr. on February 6, 1931 in Temple, Texas. 'Rip' is a family name, taken by generations of Torn men and bestowed on Elmore by his father, who was also called 'Rip.'"

Again, gleaned from IMDb: his three children with Geraldine Page were: twins, John and Tony, and daughter Angelica.

His daughter with Ann Wedgeworth is Danae Torn.

Some parents have no imagination.

A well known ex-Rugby League player over here has the name Peter Peters.

Dave.
