You may be right, but on "Urban legends" they did actually interview Dr Wynne, and there would not be much point to it if all three stories were hoaxes.

I looked this supposed article up on at website for "Journal of American Medical Association" and although it does not have its articles online it does have its contents page listed:

JAMA -- Table of Contents (Vol. 257 No. 9, March 6, 1987)

Halfway down you will find:
