I suppose he DID look at bit like Gregory Peck in the mid-90's, I hadn't really noticed before:

OK, so Steve mailed the friendly response before me, but I would like to add that ever since I first noticed this avatar I have been wondering who was that attractive young actress. Now I shall never know!!

Davod Farrar cowering from a giant bottle of Highland Clan Whiskey. Although at other times I've been Michael Gothard, Edith Scob and Ernest Thesiger.

My avatar continues my love affair with the 60s when I saw HERE WE GO ROUND THE MULBERRY BUSH. I thought Barry Evans was great and I fell in love with Judy Geeson. In fact when I started going out with girls I only ever dated blondes and ended up marrying one - I wonder if the film had that much influence?

Anyway - on the cover of the soundtrack LP (on the left) I thought the lead actors summed up all that was good about the 60s. Youth, beauty, carefree and loving. Ray Davies may have written about "Terry and Julie" but for me it was "Barry and Judy". In a pre-AIDS, pre-punk, preferable world, it was just nice to be nice.

And Carmel - I think your avatar is great - if only you'd been a blonde!!!!

My Current avatar is from the forum bank avatars ,which shows one of my favourite films.I am still trying to find an avatar that sums up britmovies for me.
I could put an avatar of myself up ( which is OK if you look like Carmel ) but I am sure the moderators would not allow it ( Too frightening )

I have been The Wicked Lady (Margaret Lockwood, masked and dangerous!), but currently I'm using an image from a long-term BBC cult favourite, M J Bird's The Dark Side of the Sun (1983): the psychic psychiatrist, Ismini (Betty Arvaniti). She's a doctor, and she's a bit witch-y (in a good way) – the real heroine of the piece. The original serial didn't give me and my friends the romantic pairing or the ending we wanted, though, but that's what fanfic's for…

(And yes, I've been using the phrase "Trust me, I'm a doctor" since I got my doctorate 14 years ago, though that's in history/art history!)
