I'll second that. Stopped there on my CFWalk last year but I know there have been changes since.

A warning - make sure your mobile is switched OFF before you go in the pub!

Use the Mosquito ringtone
Or change it so that it doesn't ring but just vibrates

.........I had no idea they already had Everest installed........hmmm, methinks maybe Everest installed them pour gratis for the publicity that would be generated for them (Everest) as I recall they garnered a lot of negative publicity once for their 'hard sell'

Having seen Fell's excellent photos I really would like to stay overnight, but knowing my luck it'll probably pour with Rain!

If it does, there will be plenty of time to exercise your drinking arm.

I took my dad out for a run in the car today. Down the A19,turning off at Thirsk to go up Sutton Bank and onward to Helmsley, where after I turned for a village called Carlton and followed a country road until we were up on the moors. Apart from the occasional car,the chirrup of birdsong,it was quiet and blissful. God,I love it up there! I wish I could spend every weekend going along the paths, through the heather, alone if need be,and abandon all worries and woes behind me.
A winding and twisting road until we got to the Hutton Le Hole/Castleton road (Blkaey Ridge),passing my favourite pub (it was packed) The Lion Inn,and joined another winding and twisting road to Westerdale and home.
Mother nature gave us enough to proud of this little island.

Great pics,Fell. Swaledale IMHO,is one of the most beautiful dales in the country.
What are the meals like in Tan Hill? I know they were superb when Margaret Bain had the pub. I think the new girl had a bit of battle with KFC or McDonald's or someone.

I know what you mean. I think I am allergic to beer - after a few pints I develop dizzy spells myself.

Should try The Feversham Arms at Farndale, knocks The Lion into a cocked hat IMHO.
