I developed an unfortunate allergy to booze several years ago ..... nowadays I am teetotal.

I understand the proprietors of the Lion have bought High Blakey House over the road for accommodation purposes.

I wish I could. Whisky was the first thing I ever got drunk on ... I have been allergic to it since I was fifteen!

I developed an intolerance to beer, cider, port (which I love), sherry and red wine. I treat myself to the very occasional glass of white wine, vodka or gin.

Like The Lion itself but have felt the food disappointed the last couple of times there. Haven't written it off entirely.

The Downe Arms at Castleton has pleased me recently as well.

I should count myself lucky - just got to avoid Beer, Lager, Stout and grain Whisky.

I stopped there last year doing the C2C,and I was still impressed with the meal and the breakfast the following morning, which gave me plenty of sustenance walking to Grosmont!

Alas that's almost certainly a past glory now, now that Humph is no longer with us. But we can still count the rest of Radio 4 (or most of it) as one of the things that makes Britain Great

I heard on the radio the other that they may be looking for a new presenter for ISIHAC ..... the name Tony Robinson was mentioned.

I'll have you know, that this is not only where Morgan Freeman and Kevin Costner fought off Nottingham's men after a mighty trek from Dover, but the Romans used it to keep the Scots out of England:
