Being a country boy at heart, who loves the British countryside with a passion,I am a bit dismayed at the announcement of 1000's of ruddy wind farms being built in the next few years.

Yeah! Pity the countryside isn't grade two listed, then they might have at least disguised them as windmills.....................

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

I find windfarms quite relaxing to look at .... and I'd rather have them than more nuclear power stations. The ones around here actually blend in quite well with the countryside. I also remember seeing one on the side of a mountain in Morrocco while on the ferry to Tangiers. It didn't look out of place at all.

I wish I had claws.

I agree. Why can't they build these on the coast, or even out at sea?

In Norfolk they do .... we have a large one at Martham on the coast and a sea farm at Scroby Sands off Gt Yarmouth. There are also plans for another off the North Norfolk coast.

I thought that it had already been proven that they are a waste of money and useless?

From what I've read the economic arguments are 50/50 .... the main objections seem to environmental (they allegedley harm wildlife and encourage the spread of pollutants) and aesthetic.

There are a number near me, most are 6-800ft ASL. Most of the time they are stationary - either there is no wind or it is too windy

The major economic benefit appears to be for the landowners.

All the best

Is has probably been mentioned before, but our villages are something to be proud of. I have just read today that after using Whitby for location shots, the makers behind the new series of Robinson Crusoe starring Sean Bean and Sam Neill, are going to film scenes in Hutton-Le-Hole in North Yorkshire. One of the houses in the Ryedale Folk Museum is to double for Crusoe's London home.
I am not surprised,it is a delightful village along with nearby Lastingham.

Congratulations to Mark Cavendish who has become the first Briton to win 3 stages in the same Tour de France.

Another one I can remember. At least the start of it:-

Oh to be in England, now that summers there.
Whoever wakes in England will see some morning unaware.
