Hello Bats..... I regret the brief addition of my Gervaisian comment.....it rather took attention away from the preceeding list which was heart-felt and considered .
Are none of those beautiful and quintessentially British things of the remotest interest to you?
"Get a life..." ??!! Your toes would curl with envy if you knew what bountiful privileges have manifested within my meagre existence. Life is indeed sweet and fulfilled...personally and creatively. But thanks for your concern.

I'm sorry that you feel there's so much Pro -Gervais bollocks on this forum, but if you care to search your archive facility you'll see that there are far more postings of Anti-Gervais content. There's plenty of things for us all to get fed up about on this forum but I don't think I've been directly rude and ill-mannered to you as a result of any of MY forum frustrations.

Your last post is rude and ill-mannered and I'm sorry that my words have reduced you to that tone.

Regards
Fred x

Steve.

You asked me for a translation into English and that is what I did.
Of course, as an English speaking person you are going to feel condescended upon by having somebody translate and explain your own language. This what NOT my intention and is a consequence of YOUR choice of words within that request.
If you meant to ask what I meant by it, then you should have explained what YOUR message meant rather than the sneering insinuation that I was not speaking English.

OK...semantics ( and the use of the word"meant" !!) over.
I think a serious issue is revealed here.

As I commented (in good humour) on another thread I think your role as Moderator is compromised by your intense involvement on this site. I have enjoyed our banter and I greatly appreciate your love and enthusiasm for P and P........your site is on my bookmark list.
However, for you to publically remonstrate and threaten disciplinary action with me and at the same time accuse me of being a prat is to blur the division between being an emotional forum participator and an impartial moderator.
It also has a faint whiff of hypocracy.

Regarding what the meassage MEANT.....I'll risk further ire and accusations and attempt to explain.

Firstly......did you see the five smileys?
You know the importance of those little fellas. It means that my comment was a joke. Now you may cease to see the humour in that joke but the important thing is that it tips you off to the context of the comment.
( as per your own defensive explanation when somebody accused you of inappropriate comments regarding Her Maj's heritage).

Secondly.....as I just admitted to the temporarily rude and insulting Mr.Bats,I regret adding the post having just spent time sharing my own personal Great British Lollipops.
There is a running gag through the forum of Gervais Baiting (....including those who'd take great delight in driving their car over the poor sod,Steve !!!!), Gervais Defending and, in my particular case, Gervais-Baiter Baiting.
The message was a comment on the English trait ( disagree and argue if you will....but don't let it bug you) of parochial resentment of that which they don't understand and appreciate but others which love and eulogise.

There.......Condescension when translated into English.
Pretentious when asked to deconstruct the meaning of the words.

And since someone has mentioned irony.....the hilarious thing is that in the last few days the person who has been twice taken to task regarding misrepresentation and offence is YOU !!!!! (from vaggmk1938 and BristolUK).

Finally...I considered sending this privately but felt that having been cautioned/insulted in public I should at least clarify and explain in the same context.

I trust that the forum is democratic enough for some honest opinion and enquiry into the role of a moderator. In the absence of an appropriate smilie please take my comments as constructive and non-personal.
However....to save the tedium of any further discourse that you and I may have on this tired subject, perhaps you can contact me at my eMail.

Kind Regards
Fred

ps.....fancy a Selfridges Salt Beef butty?

I'll tell you about the time I met Jack Cardiff at the Oscars !!

Freddie, in the past you have referred to me and others in different and IMHO unpleasant ways in your quest for Gervaisian domination, so I think you are out of order for calling me rude or ill mannered. I would normally apologise if someone thought me rude etc, but not this time, as it is a clear case of pot and kettle here my friend.

For me to say 'get a life' is merely me using a well known phrase to signify my frustration at this continued pro v anti Ricky 'debate'. I am sick of both pro and anti Ricky comments .... for me it has become boring.

With regard to toe curling envy .... not a chance. I have had, and continue to have, a very fullfilling life personally, professionally and creatively. I live in a lovely house with my wonderful family in a very agreeable part of the world. I am very blessed in my life.

I am sure you also have a wonderful fulfilled life, my plea was you to share some of your thoughts and experiences (as you did with some music a while ago) instead of simply coming online to say the same old things, albeit dressed up with superfluous verbosity (I can use big words too). Your preceding list was rather interesting (as was this whole thread) until your unfortunate comment re your hero, I want more of those things from you ..... is that too much to ask?

Bats.....with respect.

I do not require an apology. No offence was taken.

I was stating a fact.....you were rude and ill-mannered.

I've just spent ten minutes trawling through my seventy posts (a grim task,no doubt you're thinking). The thought that I referred to you in an unpleasant way is upsetting and I would wish to rectify any misunderstandings.

The closest resemblance to anything unpleasant was this exchange

Mmmm.......jealousy rears it's repugnant cranium (with an alarming synchronicity).

Fred

To which you replied (with two laughing smilies AND a Dancin' Banana )

.... Freddie, you are priceless!

Bats.

Other than that there is nothing remotely unpleasant.
Unless you can quote anything that I may have missed I'd appreciate you retract that statement.
In light of Steve's reprimand I'd appreciate you taking the time to verify this.
If some one accuses me of insults and unpleasantries then I deserve the right to clarify, explain and,if necessary, apologise.

Kind Regards
Fred

ps......having just read the relevant posts for a second time ( and at this moment the phrase "get a life" seems a tad more a propos!) there's actually a degree of good natured and affectionate banter between us.

You must be confusing me with some other bastard!

Sorry Freddie, I for one am one 100% behind Bats on this and believe you should read his replies and read them thoroughly before replying yourself. Hope you have a great weekend.
