Hmm, so the Eel Pie Club isn't actually on the Island
It's in London Road, heading up towards Twickenham

It's nice to see that some people do still remember the island though

If that is Norwich Cathedral,it is the second highest steeple in Britain after Salisbury, which I believe was the tallest building the world until the Eiffel Tower came along. I will stand corrected on that if need be!

Perhaps they're having problems with the drains?

Lincoln cathedral was the tallest building in the world for some 250 years until the 16th century when lots of it fell down during a storm and wasn't replaced.

It was supposedly 525 ft which meant that but for its accident it would have held the record until the 19th century.

Bloody pick-nitters...............!

That article mentions boating over to the island - but I know that there is a footbridge across.
Does anybody know if that has been added since the 60s?

I was born and raised in Connecticut - practically every city is named after one in England - we have a Norwich and a Norfolk. I was born and raised in the town of Bristol. Yep.

There used to be a bridge onto the island in the 1960s - but some people would arrive by boat.

The whole island went on fire a few times, especially the hotel
