I suspect you are being deliberately pedantic?

Personally I wonder whether the bigger threat will be global warming or the former Eastern Bloc countries holding us to ransom.

That may be a function of improved building insulation, less chimneys spouting hot gasses in cities now, etc, in the last few decades....perhaps cities heat the air above them less than before. Certainly we have more car traffic, but we also have a lot less horses since when you were a boy Steve....

Did he also tell you to make sure the switch on the electric socket was in the "Off" position when nothing was plugged in, to stop the electricity leaking out into the air?

I've never heard such nonsense, a harmful build up of electrical energy indeed

I wasn't actually. I was really wondering if this was another case of nonsense being talked about devices left on standby - and then Bats posted the one that the Fire Officer said as if to confirm my suspicions

I think that cities still give off a lot of heat.

And the lack of horses does mean that the roses don't do so well

A city develops it's own micro climate, and is always hovering on average about 2 or 3 degrees celcius above it's surrounding area.
It snowed in Lancashire on the 1st. May 1979. I know because it was my 20th. birthday. Granted it was a freak.

Ah, so that's what it is!..........more Scaremongering by the Green Police, I did wonder how 'Standby' could be linked to C02 emissions.

I would have thought there is 'Electrical energy' in the Air anyhow, what with the endless Mobile Phone many People make, and whatever Space Satellites, Radar, etc; are beaming their beams all over the place!
