One simple fact that you have to realise regarding the Moon landings is that the astronauts did not have hand held cameras while on the moon.
The only cameras they had with them were strapped to the chests of their space suits.
The cameras could only move with the movement of the astronaut himself.
The astronaut could not see what he was filming.

Now, take a fresh look at all the "official" moon landing film material.
Perfect, well lit pictures. Smooth panning of the camera. All subjects clearly in shot and focus - and all shot from chest height on a heavy space suit, while walking on the moon surface.

Please try this one at home.

Dave.

You don't think they might have practised before going do you?
Or that they only released the better pictures, holding back the ones that were out of focus, shaky, or wasn't of anything interesting.

I personally have my doubts that the Americans landed on the moon after watching a documentary on it. Things dont add up. But on the other hand, part of me says of course they DID!

What do you think about conspiracy theories? Just gossip and imagination? Or something else.

xx
If someone powerful enough would gain by it, then whatever the event it's natural for conspiracy theories to emerge.

I don't know the whole story but from what I can gather Marilyn Monroe was allegedly having an affair with two powerful Kennedys, but because she had a drink and drugs problem she suddenly became a liability. So friends of the brothers or officials/The State may have deemed it too risky to let her "spill the beans" in her vulnerable state. She was also knocking on a bit at thirty six (which back then was elderly for a Hollywood Goddess), and her career had seen better days! So one small sacrifice to save a political scandal would seem worthwhile to them! I think Frank Sinatra and/or his buddies were allegedly in the thick of it too!

Then there was Martin Luther King, John Lennon, Princess Diana, various green issue people, Dr David Kelly. The timing and the very nature of their sudden deaths just smacks of conspiracy.

One thing that always puzzles me though is that when a new government comes into office from the previous opposition party, why doesn't the new Prime Minister or President reveal to the public the real truth of what happened in these cases? Or do they have to sweep it under the carpet as part of some secret clause in their employment contract?

I imagine the corridors of power are filled with Gene Hackman types, filtering the truth from the elected leader and doing dirty dealing to protect himself!

Donald Spoto made an exhaustive analyis of JFK's diary and established that there were only three (I think) occasions when they were in the same building, one of them being the birthday party. So they may have had a quickie in the stationery cupboard but definitely not an actual affair.

I think so too because since 1969 the choice of new varieties of cheese in the shops has increased a hundredfold!

Also I met Buzz Aldrin back in the eighties, and if anyone's been to the Moon he has!

The only flaw in the "yes they definitely landed on the Moon" debate to me was the technology aspect of such a gigantic feat back then. In 1969 my Dad was going to buy a new car, he didn't in the end because it was too expensive, but the car he had his heart set on was a Vauxhall Viva (the same model as Bob Ferris had in Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads)! So a trip to the moon - Vauxhall Viva! It just doesn't add up!

I thought that came later on when Red Robbo tried to deprive the nation of those high quality, well designed British Leyland models that everyone simply adored! The public begged the government to give in to the union's demands for fear of being deprived of shiny new Allegros, Marinas, Princesses, Triumph TR7s, Triumph Spitfires and Dolomites, rubber bumpered MGBs and MG Midgets, Rover SD1s and Maxis.

The Marina was aptly named because the one I used to have was always full of water!

British Leyland made a bit of a comeback and was in effect saved from going under completely with the launch of the Austin Mini Metro (as it was first called). The name "METRO" stood for "Michael Edwardes' Time Running Out" (he was the chairman).

The Rover SD1 used to rot like a boiled sweet tester's teeth, most visibly from the bottom of the doors and the hatchback. To overcome this they revamped the model in the early 80s and fitted huge wide plastic styling strips on the bottoms of the doors and a bit of a plasticky rubber spoiler on the bottom of the hatchback. They still rotted like a corpse in a swamp, but it took many more months before it would become visible above the plastic strips!

You should have been able to do it, it's not rocket science!

Of course NASA still hasn't got it right.
Pieces of metal and heat shields are still falling off the Space Shuttle today putting the astronauts lives in danger - and that is only with a craft circling the earth.
Yet somehow back in 1969 we made a trip to the moon and back without any major problems regarding heat shields, radiation or anything else.

Dave.

Most shuttle missions are very successful. The Apollo mission was well funded, much better than the shuttle program, and it had a fair bit of luck.
