Also on the bill, among others, were Cilla Black, Fourmost, Houston Wells and the Marksmen, Dakotas and others I can't recall.
Of course Johnny Kidd was a local boy, living in Perivale, and they brought the house down.
I think some were impressed with the pirate ship backdrop and the striped jumpers and high boots, but along with Johnny's performance, it was mainly Mick Green who caught the eye - in those days an amazing and innovative guitarist. Funnily enough, he left not long after to join the Dakotas, to everyone's astonishment, particularly when he was next seen in a suit on TOTP miming to Trains and Boats and Planes!

Bonzo's with Viv (Again, saw the reunion last year without him)
The Move , and Hendrix definitely Penfold.
In keeping with West midlands groups , I actually won free tickets to see ELO part 2 in the late 80's at the Manchester Apollo.
Jeff Lynne wasn't part of the line up unfortunately ,but they were assisted by the Moscow state symphony orchestra ,who did a last night of the proms segment which broght the house down ,and believe it or not ELO minus Jeff lynne were still brilliant

I've been lucky enough to see most of the big rock acts but missed out on The Beatles and one of my favourite bands through the years, Traffic with Stevie Winwood.

Reminds you of how concert tickets have rocketed in price.
I found a used ticket for a triple bill concert I went to in Sydney in 1971 starring -
Deep Purple, Free and Manfred Mann's Earthband.
The price of the ticket was $3 (1 pound 50p) back then.

I can also remember going to a David Bowie concert in the eighties over here where everyone was complaining about the high price of the tickets. They were $12 each.

The times they are a changing.

Dave.

Scott Walker. Joe Cocker & the Grease Band. Free. Al Green. Jr Walker.

I did have tickets for a Move reunion gig - about 1980, in the Birmingham Town Hall, for charity...original line-up too...but it never happened....some row again I expect. If you ever get the chance to se Roy live, do, he's still a fantastic showman...

Mick has recently been playing with Paul McCartney and David Gilmour ..... but if you think joining the Dakotas was bad, he spent ages in Freddie Starr's backing band!

My brother saw Hendrix at the Orford Cellar in Norwich and Free played Norwich a couple of times but I missed out on all three. My bro' also saw The Move at the old Gala Ballroom. He remembers the gig being delayed due to a row about Bev Bevan nailing his drumkit to the floor!

I mentioned Cream .... the nearest I ever got was seeing Ginger Baker in The Baker Gurvitz Army.

Blind Faith were a bit good too ....

BLACK SABBATH,original line-up of course!!!
Bought my first album of theirs at 13...about 6 years after they split!
Would love to have seen AC/DC but, curses, too young again(damn my youth).Around the early to mid '80s a lot of bands played just across the channel in Paris,Amsterdam,etc,...i really feel i missed out.Did anybody else go continental?

10 years ago id have said the sex pistols circa 76 ,now as a 40 year old it would be too raucus ! if they turned the volume down ,refrained from spitting or pogoing and provided comfy chairs then i guess it would be them ,either that or id have to overdose on sonatogens before i went
