Okay, let's correct the obvious omission -
YouTube - Dr. Feelgood - Roxette and this one YouTube - Wilko Johnson guitar method where the great man explains his unique guitar style. Also features Dierdre Cartwright (sigh) of "Painted Lady". Never missed their gigs down the 'Brewers in Clapham or The Merton Parkas either. Last edited by sippog; 24-04-2008 at 06:02 PM. |

Crikey Bats; you`ve just taken me right back to my teens too. I thought I was the only P.F.M. fan in the world at the time, my mates couldn`t get into them no matter how I tried; even though we had much the same tastes, sure I read that their name was taken from the name of their favourite cake/bun shop ( funny isn`t it the crazy things you remember ). Also The Strawbs, Ah memories; saw them on their
`73 `Bursting at the Seams` tour at believe it or not...Barnsley Civic Hall; that was when you could see a concert for a couple of quid,it honestly seems like yesterday, thanks a lot Bats for this thread it`s sure brought a smile to my face with the memories. |

Ignoring the dinosaur jibes of the philistine administrator (
), PFM did indeed take their name from a bakery. I saw The Strawbs on that tour too ... happy days!

Good thread Batus Manus.
Whispering Bob was like a God.Tuesday nights were reserved soley to be in such distinguished company. The Old Grey Whistle was a test bed for a lot of peripheral bands too including Nils Lofgren , Peter Frampton and of course that little known band from Dublin, U2 where the song 'I will follow' first introduced that cutting edge guitar sound which at the time was simply jaw dropping. Then there's also FREE - Wishing Well YouTube - Free - Wishing Well and BAD COMPANY - Feel like making love YouTube - bad company feel like making love

Most of these bands passed me by as I was going along a somewhat different road, so my 70s included seeing:
David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust and Thin White Duke tours Ella Fitzgerald Bob Marley and the Wailers Elvis Costello And I remember paying 25p to see some unknown outfit in the Student's Union bar. They were called The Jam. |
