Default drug dealers breaking into prison and prisoners refusing to escap

Hi.

I dunno if people saw this on the news but I was also taking to someone who volunteers for the prison service today too. He said they are hardly queueing up to get out.

The report this morning said:

Breakfast in bed
Satelite tv
cheap drugs

And in my opinion if you are homeless then why would you NOT commit a crime to get this and three square meals a day?

Oh and my friend also said they are sitting with short sleeved T-shirts on as the heating is on so high for them!!!!!!!

I guess if you have no desire for the 'out-of-doors' life, live on a sink estate with only criminals for company, it probably seems like a home from home.

If I was in prison for a few weeks or months I doubt I'd be interested in 'escaping' either, seeing as how some martinet magistrate would probably bang me up for three years, after I'd been caught, which I would be within hours, if not days.

Best to do the time!

Thanks ML. You see I must be so mad I had to say it twice .

I have asked Steve to remove the duplicate.

Yeah I guess you are right about escaping, that its best to do your time or you will get a longer sentence. I wouldnt be strong enough to dig a tunnel anyway. Maybe I would consider it if someone sent me ye old file in a vanilla sponge though

A mate of mine is a Prison warder he has worked at loads of prisons but is at present working at a local open prison,I was doing some building work on his house and he used to come home from work and tell me what his day had been like. oh dear he was not very happy and reconed he would be better of in the prison as he had to be nice and run after inmates who were treated as if they were on holiday its not far from where I live perhaps I should go there and get free everything, at least Gordon Brown would be paying and I would be warm

It's about time 'Open Prisons' were pensioned off and all these harmless people just get anklets to wear, and get on with their lives, along with the rest of us who haven't been caught yet.............. Be a few more on the dole queue though

Let me out ............

I actually agree with you Moor (great name for a thread about prison). Open prisons are a waste of time IMHO. Close them down and tag the people who would normally get sent there. Then transfer the resources and manpower to the main prisons so that they become better staffed and more secure with adequate facilities for proper rehabilitation.

seeing as our prisons are overcrowded and were part of europe ,why dont we contract out some of it to foreign countries ? just think ,youre average burglar or car thief spends 3 months in a polish or romanian prison ! wonder how many playstations they have ? wonder if theyd be keen on going back ? , dont see why it cant be done ,we need the prison spaces ,countries like poland etc could do with the money

I don't know if it's just apocraphy but didn't the USA open its doors to the oppressed poor in Cuba once? And Castro emptied his prisons and sent them all to Jimmy Carter (or whoever). It would be interesting to know how many of them remained criminals.

I seem to have read that we British did this once and created a whole country. I've often wondered why Australia isn't inherently bad, given that its Euro-genetic base was largely derived from the criminal classes.

a friend of a friend not long out of scots prison and said it was easy time, TV , Sky, mobile phones, drugs. and no bars on windows, sometimes I think people whove been in and out of prison over a long period see it as the easy option in the end as they have their lives controlled, never even visited a prison, so Ive been lucky, and cant really comment just hearsay.
