I have.

It is similar to Caley's Marching Chocolate (made here in Norwich) .... very rich and strong, one square and I get a migraine!

I've eaten their 85% bars, because they're very low carb.... 1/3 by percentage of mass of a Kit Kat, for example....so I'll give it a try...

There's really a Caley's chocolate? It's a joke in Whisky Galore (book) that the Sassenachs confuse it with ceilidh.

Caley's Marching Chocolate is wonderful stuff, but they don't make enough of it. I always buy a handful of bars whenever I find it, but I don't find it very often.

Ignore the milky stuff on the right, the 70% on the left is the one to go for.

Generally, anything over 80% is better for cooking. It's too intense a hit to eat by itself unless you're a real chocaholic. But 70-80% is a good range to go for and there are some very good chocolates in that range.

Most chocolate in our shops only comes from 2 or 3 different sources anyway. The producers don't really have to do much to it and they have to work hard to mess it up - although Cadbury's manage it with Bournville

But Lindt, Green & Blacks and even supermarket's own brand, as long as you check that percentage of cocoa solids, most of them are very nice.

Thanks, but oddly they don't seem to offer the 70% Marching Chocolate. Only the milk chocolate version

Some excellent recipes though.

We have unlimited supplies here (unsurprisingly) .... place an order Steve and I'll send you some.

Caley's have a Tea Shoppe in the centre of Norwich ..... the chocolate cakes and gateaux are awesome!

Caley's had a huge factory in Norwich for decades and you could smell chocolate in the air all day .... they were bought out by Rowntree Mackintosh in the 60s and the factory only closed a few years ago.

Some enterprising local businessmen re-activated the Caleys name and have not looked back.

I'd better point out that it's the Lindt stuff that gives me a migraine.

I love most 70 & 85% chocolate (Lindt in partic) but that 99% was just too much. Will cook with the rest of the bar . Going to try this Caley's
