I always enjoyed the Kinks music too, thought it was so original at the time.

keene was a successful session musician ,probably played on a lot more famous songs than we realise !

Default Jim Reeves

When I was a nipper Jim Reeves was absolutely massive with grown ups, especially his LP's. Yet I can't think of a perod flick that features his singing. Did I miss some ?

I love Gene Pitney. Saw him in concert in Sydney, I think it was 1975.

A song I loved in my teens....

Stardust - written by Hoagy Carmichael, sung by Nat King Cole

Default Jim Reeves

Regarding Jim Reeves - How about the film 'Kimberley Jim' made in South Africa, he had a massive following there and made a few albums sung in Afrikaan.

Default songs you loved in your teens

I have to say that this site has opened my mind to a lot of things and I only looked to see if I could find a film. The topics raised have brought memories back and music just seems to highlight a special time and an age.Like when you are young and dance with a bridesmaid that bit older(talking young here)and I remember the record. Listen to the falling rain.
Sugar sugar and In the Summertime were secondary school days.
Great thoughts and memories ,thanks

I remember Del Shannon's Answer To Everything as a child. I had two older brothers so I was weaned on the likes of Del Shannon and Helen Shapiro and Frankie Avalon.

According to my Mother one of my favourites was s song called,"Princess, Princess." which was the b side to Johnny Tilotstons,"Poetry In Motion.

When I was 15 in 1975 I still loved those old songs of my brothers and would prefer to listen to Elvis and Sonnny and Cher rather than listen to Bowie and glam rock.

One of my all time favourites from the fifties was The Teddy Bears "To Know Her Is To Love Her" it was later revived in the mid sixties by Peter and Gordon.

Also loved Dominque bythe Singing Nun and got requests to sing it at my local post office at the age of four.
