There's nothing wrong with telling people to " bugger off", I do it all the time and not just to tossers trying to sell me what I don't want when I'm trying to eat my evening meal.

Some of these mysterious calls remind me of the time the mother of a friend of mine got a call.

"She's just gone out," said the male voice, "I'll be round in 5 minutes. Leave the back door open."

The mother of my friend is about 80. But she still replied "You've got the wrong number. But I'll leave the back door open anyway."

Most of the cold calls i get are from India trying to sell me a mobile phone. I was so fed up with this, when they rang and said `Is that Mrs Allsop(My other halfs name).......I said no, I`m sorry Mrs Allsop has been abducted by Aliens .

The bloke on the phone got his manager to come and confirm it by asking again

xx

As our company pays for our mobile phones & I've never had to pay a mobile phone bill, I like it when they call and say "We can guarantee to save you money on the amount you're paying for your mobile phone."

"This could be interesting," I say, "do go on."

although I hate these calls for new kitchens , bathrooms, windows etc, I just cant tell them to pee off, feel sorry for them even thought theyre irritating. my sons ex works for well known company and told us all the things she told to do , even if its pensioners, she said, they have to grind the person down with info, never forgetting to say the persons name as many times in each sentence as possible , I hate it all, its horrible, and dont know how she can do it. to be honest. Why do they call and never say who they are, you let you know that they know who you are, its deceitful .

I feel sorry for anyone who's in a rough enough position that they think that working for one of these companies is the only way they can make any money. But they won't make much, and they have to agree to use such horrible pressure selling techniques that I quickly lose any sympathy I ever felt for them.

As I said in an earlier post, if you sup with the devil, use a long spoon

Take the phone off the hook and walk away.

Tell them as you're on the TPS they're breaking the law.

Last resort, aw why don't you just '**** **', crude but 100% effective.

As soon as they say "How are you today?" I say very sweetly, "Thank-you for asking, but I'm not telling you. Goodbye."
Then I hang up. End of story.

When they don't ask how I am, as soon as I realise it's a telemarketing call, I interrupt them and just say straight out - firmly, but very politely, "I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in whatever you have to say. I don't like telemarketing calls, please don't call me again. Have a nice day, goodbye."

(That's the only time I ever say "have a nice day" - hate it!)

I hate that they say you rname as soon as you answer, with a Good Morning Mrs ........ but dont say who they are or who they work for, you have to listen to the boring speech from them before you get the chance to butt in and ask who they are, my daughter in law works for very famous big company that provides Gas , (say no more) and shes told to keep saying the persons name in every sentence to make them feel important , how crass is that.

Very crass!.......I've certainly learnt a thing or two from the posts on this thread, I'm supposed to be on the 'don't call' register, but they still do.......I'm not very assertive so I'll just let the Phone ring, after three rings the answer machine will cut in, if it's someone who really needs to speak to you they'll leave a message, if not just forget it!

Yes, at a premium rate call no doubt.......Barbara (my Sister) works for a Hotel chain and they regularly recieve E-mails asking them to phone a certain (premium rate) number with the room rates........needless to say they don't!
