Well, it's not a connoisseur's curry, but it's quite tasty!

Bless you, John - thanks.

That's the Glasgow diet, the sweetest and richest and fattiest known to man (or woman). It's not just the sugar, they like a lot of fat as well. It was in Glasgow that they invented the deep fried Mars bar - and that's why Glasgow is known as the heart attack capital of Scotland

You can if you wish add herbs, but I don't think it needs it personally....try without first?? Best with poultry, but also with game or good sausages....

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

Absolutely none taken...it hadn't occurred to me that it hadn't crossed the Atlantic...it must be as old as the Pilgrim Fathers....others have indicated what to have it with....perhaps you can try it with your Thanksgiving meal if you cook then....

Well, of course, you're not supposed to eat it all at once - it's confectionary! It's a bit like fudge.

I certainly will try it first as per your recipe - I like the idea of having it with sausages too.

Thank You Sam, it`s good to know I`m not alone.... I thought it was just my guilty pleasure. Do you add anything..Brown sauce or Tomato Ketchup or maybe just a dash of Salt & Vinegar, mmmmmmmmmm

P.S. To the Fish Finger sandwiches of course, not the Vimto.

Smoking wouldn't help, either. I get the impression from Scottish TV shows that Scotland is chock-a-block full of nicotine addicts!

BUT... all that porridge must do them some good!

Heat oven to 190°C with a dry roasting dish or baking tray in.

Use smallish potatoes; wash (don't peel) and cut each into 4 lengthways.

Bring to the boil in a pan of lightly-salted water and allow to boil for a few minutes. Remove from the heat and drain.
Shake about to ‘rough up’ the edges a little and then add enough vegetable oil to coat the potato wedges as you turn them over with a spoon.

When the oven reaches temperature put the potatoes, skin side down, onto the tray and then into the oven.

Cook for about 40-45 minutes, turning twice to make sure that they are browned on all three sides.

Sprinkle with coarse sea salt and coarsely-ground black pepper.

Serve with a creamy dip, favourite ketchup or curry sauce while you watch the footie.

(I haven't got a photo of these yet - but I'll post one later!)
