ingredients:

short walk (5-10mins)
pizzaria
small queue
speech
£5
wait
2nd short walk (5-10 mins)

method:

take the short walk from your home until you arrive at the pizzaria, form a small
queue (preferably at the back to save argument),when at the front of queue
using the speech place your order, pay the £5,wait, collect your pizza, then use
the 2nd walk (making sure it is in the opposite direction-i can't stress that
enough) and bob's yer uncle!

....speaking of which:

Breakfast/Brunch Waffles
You’ll need a waffle iron for this recipe – it’s really good fun, but it does take a bit of practice!

Waffle Batter

275g Plain Flour
4 Teaspoons Baking Powder
Large Pinch Salt
1 Tablespoon Caster Sugar
85g Unsalted Butter, melted
2 Large Eggs, beaten
275 ml Water

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together into a bowl and make a well in the centre.
Add the beaten eggs and melted butter and stir, gradually drawing in the flour. Whisk in the water GRADUALLY, until it is the consistency of double cream; you may not need all of the water.

Cook your waffles according to your waffle iron instructions. Keep them warm in the oven on a low heat.
The amount of waffles you make will depend on your waffle iron.

OR, OF COURSE, YOU CAN ALWAYS CHEAT AND BUY SOME FROM THE SUPERMARKET!!

To serve:

Grill, or fry streaky bacon rashers.

Heat a grill to fairly high.
Slice bananas in half lengthways and dredge them thickly with icing sugar, browning them under the grill until the sugar has caramelised.

Lay 2-3 rashers of bacon on the waffles, lay 2 banana slices on top and drizzle with maple syrup – add crème fraiche if you want to. Or double cream, whipped.....

It's traditionally served with the Christmas turkey, billy - have you never had it?

One farl (Quarter loaf) of Soda Bread
One medium white onion
One pint milk (Full cream is best, semi- if you worry about that sort of thing....I don't, and it shows....)

In a food processor......in this order..... chop the whole onion; then the dry bread with the onion (the bread absorbs any onion liquid/fumes/flavour this way). Empty into a large saucepan, add the milk, simmer lightly until warmed through and the bread has absorbed the milk and the sauce acquired a loose porridgey consistency.
Season to taste, but it may not need it...the sauce has a lovely nutty bready flavour...way better than packet or bought.
A great accompaniment to poultry - I think I'll try that recipe, penfold - but I'll probably make my own soda bread first.

Traditionally, bread sauce has cloves and a bay leaf - Delia also adds nutmeg.

I usually find that people who say they don't like bread sauce haven't actually tried it! (My mother for one)

NB: It freezes well.
