My wife loves crafting, these days it's card making, she spends most of her free time in her craft room.

I play radio and computing ( no games) we meet up at meal times and usually evening TV/film viewing, maybe that's why we get on so well and unlike many marriages theses days have lasted over 40 years.

I don't have QVC!
No, it's not too early, donna - considering it can take me several weeks to make a special card. I'm also finishing off a birthday card for a friend for June before he goes out to his villa in Spain for the month.
I made some small cards today - and then realised that I didn't have any envelopes that size and you can't buy them.......so I had to make them as well!

I think you should make the effort it's available on freeview and they do some very good card making shows. You don't have to buy anything but at least they'll give you a few good ideas I'm sure. My wife enjoys watching cardmaking whilst doing the ironing. Very therapeutic , and gets her through that most tediuos task.

Well I'm recovering from an operation and so I've been doing physio and taking long walks along the beach on crutches. The problem is that being self-employed I'm also looking for new work as I don't get anything for being off sick, but I'm not quite ready to resume yet, especially if I end up having to work away from home.

We've only been in this house for a few months and it needs work, so it's very frustrating because the windows need rubbing down and painting but I can't yet get up a ladder safely, but being off work you feel that you're wasting time when you could be doing something more productive on the place. I aim to start on the downstairs windows but my leg aches like hell if I'm on it too long and so it puts you off starting anything.

TV has offered little in the way of entertainment whilst I've been off, with the exception of last night when I watched the excellent The Invisibles with Jenny Agutter and a cast of other really good actors. It's on a par with New Tricks for the quality of its writing and acting.

Tonight I'm going to hobble up to my local and talk bollocks with the rest of them and hopefully put the world to rights!

Oh, I've also written a radio play and sent it off to the BBC for consideration. It took me three days to write, two days to edit and ages to print off because I ran out of toner! I started another last Monday but domestic issues fouled my muse and I abandoned it after only four hours! Never let your wife give up working, they resent you for being at home with them and upsetting their routine, and insist on interupting everything you try and do with trivial, inconsequential codswallop!

Who was it who said, "Marriage is a bastard, and you spend the rest of your life doing things you don't want to do just to please others, and never get to do anything you want to do!" Oh I remember, it was me!

"...the chairman of Littlewoods stores made a Keynote speech!"

Came home from work, started to cook, opened the hood above the hob for the light and the the extractor fan to come on and the light blew, tripping off the electrics. Turned the electrics back on changed the light bulb......still no joy, so clambered around under the units to change the plug fuse.........still no joy......realised I'll have to get an electrician out at great expense, swore a lot, lost my appetite, poured a large gin, started the computer and found this thread.
Nice to get the subject off my chest.

And what's all this about me having me leg off?

What a great reason to cuddle up on the sofa together.

Don't miss out on a chance to win a rare film in Bat-Quiz 13 closing date - 31/8/8.

Which part of Crete are you going to Donna? When I was an art student in Dundee me and some of my pals went to Crete for the whole summer holidays, about 8 weeks! I've had a good look around the island but Im sure its changed a bit since I was there. The beach disco bars were just starting to make an impression in some places.

No thanks, Frank63, I'm 'weaning' myself off of TV and I am seriously considering giving it up altogether when it changes to digital. I don't enjoy it much any more.

Anyway, if I copied what people do on TV, I'd be making their cards - not mine!
