Oh - sometimes things do work out for the best - there is usually some reason in there somewhere - when you look back. Perhaps you can use the experience as a tool for improvement.

Crikey, I left the country once over a guy whose name I can't even remember now.

Oh - the above pics - try a mixture of the two - without the cigarette

Now... off to cheer - behave yourselves boys and have a lovely day.

I think if I had a vocation in life,I think it would be a fund raiser. There is one thing I have found immensely pleasurable to do in the past 16 years,is organise a charity walk with other friends. I have tried to for a post as a fund raiser for the John Butterwick Hospice in Stockton, but alas to no avail. The one charity I would love to raise money for is Cancer Research,as it has not only claimed many friends, but it took my mother 26 years and my sister last year. My dad has had cancer of the bowel (removed) and has prostate cancer which is under control.
If successful with such a post, most of my efforts will revolve around walking, and after a mate of mine has done this,do a tandem parachute jump (yikes)!
However, off to work now and dream of what can be.......

Afternoon off so I went to my local lido and got there just as the sun came out and a bunch of triathletes were getting out so for 20 minutes I was the only person in a 90 yard swimming pool! Which was nice.

Went to the hospital this morning to have physiotherapy on my neck. I have to go and have this done once every 6 to 8 weeks.

And they're so manly they don't bother with the changing rooms, just strip off by the side of the pool. It was a nice afternoon

Actually, this thread has cheered me up a bit.

Good 'ere, innit!
Bad luck but keep trying. I'm trying to find work too but I have to go back into hospital in a couple of weeks, and so even if something does come up I'll not be able to take it on. It's only three days in hospital but quite a long time recovering and walking properly again.

Since my last op it's been good having time at home, but having no money coming in it's also been very depressing. Still the sun comes out now and again and the beach is still free, so that's a bonus and no commuting misery to worry about.

Last time I was at the Lido the changing rooms weren't all that great anyway, just little sheds with half-doors - and were right alongside the pool. Although that was a few weeks ago

They're still much like that though with proper doors with new paint on them. There are proper showers now (which there weren't when I was a kid). And a nice cafe.

Sorry I have not been around much folks but been a little busy with the boys who are now going to school and this happened to my car on Fathers Day, of all days:

The differential on my Pajero broke whilst I was going to play golf on a beautiful Sunday morning. Just awaiting parts from Manila and it's only costing 150 quid to get it fixed.

Something really good did happen just last month that I forgot to share with you. Air Asia, Welcome to airasia.com...Now Everyone Can Fly... were giving away free flights to anywhere they fly to and I managed to hook two return flights to The Gold Coast in Australia and two round trips to Kuala Lumpur. Keep an eye on their website for brilliant travel bargains around SE Asia. Another good website for travel deals is Search and Find Cheap Flights and Airline Tickets - dohop.com for the cheapest flights worldwide.

Hope you guys had a great Fathers Day.

The old Morris Minors used to do that sometimes. You'd see them by the side of the road with a wheel at a strange angle

Bad luck

Actually it was not as bad as all that as I only paid 3500 for the car and it only has 70,000 on the clock as of now and it's a 2002 model and goes like a rocket.
And gas prices here are not too bad at just 65p (UK) a litre, so very affordable to drive. Just a little miffed that it happened on my day off to play golf.

All the best

Wow Marky, sorry to hear of your families desperate times and wish you all Gods love and mercy.

My wife had bowel cancer and has fully recovered and is so far in good health. I like you have thought about raising money for so many good causes here in the Philippines, but where do you begin and with what charities or organisations. There are millions here who need help and the government do very little to help. Emy and I do share with gifts of food to the very needy each month and all we ask of them is to think of it as a gift from our boys. Recently I had friend here from the UK and they like me donate food to the needy here in the Phils.

I have found that whatever we give to the needy, we get more back, not what we have given plus more, but extra special rewards and good things that happen, like having our boys, always dreamt of being a father and thought it would never happen and because I share with others the rewards are very plentiful indeed, a smiling face, a tear in the eye, a hug, that's the best reward.

Before my mum died, she decided to "adopt" a little boy and would send just a fiver each month to the charity and each month or so would receive a letter from them letting her know how he was doing in all aspects of his life. My sister now keeps this going for her and has met him, he is a now a 19 year old university student studying law.

Wishing you and all your family the very best and may God shine his light upon you all.

Best wishes
