Happy to read you and the Boy Wonder have had a lovely day Bats, I love Norfolk, so serene and peaceful, which is more than can be said for the very trying time I've had at Work this week!

I was driving home from work this afternoon feeling a bit fed up because of one thing and another,(I may have to go to Court as a Prosecution Witness over a fraudulent claim a Customer has made, something I'm not looking forward too one little bit) listening to Classic FM which I normally do when on came Ralph Vaughan Williams 'Five variants of Dives & Lazarus', it put me mind of rolling hills and lush meadows (and Norfolk!) as Vaughan Williams work usually does and listening to that peice of music cheered me up no end........made me realise that things ain't so bad after all!

Thank you Marky, hope the temperature in the Club isn't too hot!.........I'm spending the evening listening to the 'Gladiator' soundtrack for about the fifth time today and catching up on my forums.......I love the Internet and it's communication abilities, which is more than can be said for the late Charlton Heston, I'm not one to speak ill of the dead but one of his quotes was "the internet is for lonely people".........what a patronising and plain stupid remark

I'm in the process of getting reels of old home movie Super 8 film transfered to DVD. I'm getting an expert company to do it for me.
The films mostly consist of trips I made to England and South America in the 1970's. As I no longer have a projector and screen I have not seen the films for 20 years or more.

I pondered whether it was worth paying for the transfers (It is a very expensive process) but it's either that or lose the film for good as time fades it away.

Reminds me of how cumbersome it was in those days travelling around with the heavy Super 8 camera and equipment slung over one shoulder.
The small 50ft reels were expensive to buy at the time and only lasted 5 minutes.
Then after the journey you had to get the reels processed and then splice the reels together to show on the projector.
On more than one occasion I had film that got trapped and burnt in the projector.

What a difference today with the slimline, easy-to-use video cameras.

Dave.

Thanks Bats.......it's the relentless heat that can be very tiring having an outdoors job.......still, better than workin' in some noisy, stinkin' of grease Factory, the heat can be even worse! (which I have done, never again!)

It's really hot here at work today .... stuck inside till 5pm and with no open windows and crap air conditioning. I wish I was outside.

No it wasn't hot - just quiet and boring. I was drawing ducks on the wall and feeding them.

Gladiator - one of my favourite soundtracks.

Been to work for an hour or so,and then came home to breakfast and put some food out for the birds, and fresh water in their baths.
Just had a lovely walk around Billingham Beck Valley Park.

Gad,it's hot!

Mark - and Marky - you might (or might not!) be interested to know that RVW adapted the "Five Variants" music for the score of a film that he himself appeared in, called "Dim Little Island", see The Dim Little Island (1949) The film was directed by the renowned Humphrey Jennings, and is not quite one of his best, though well worth seeing for its own sake.

I too love that piece of music, but then I love all RVW's compositions.

Thanks for that,Rob. Worth a butchers if ever I see it on the tv schedule.
Borders tend to have a fair selection of RVW's CD's.
