It is so hot here that I decided to take my daughter away for a couple of days - we decided we could either go to an OKish hotel for four nights or a posh for one for two (we're going on a proper holiday later in the summer) - so we went for the posh one! It was the best idea, though, she has been jumping in and out of the pool for three days. It was perfect - and on the way down I was convinced it was going to rain.

Don't take a friend who snores though. He is banned next time - banned I tell you!

I can see why it might be over-rated by some ... but after two hours in a pirate ship pool with Captain Kidd and copious amounts of fizzy pop I feel I can cope with it!

Went to my great-niece's christening yesterday. I was boiling hot in the church. Fortunately I was standing by the door and the vicar said it could remain open during the ceremony as earlier someone had fainted. Thankfully the reception was held outdoors - although with all the food about it did attract the wasps and the blasted flies - grrrr!

I found our cat dead under a bush in the garden a little while ago. We'd had her for 12 years and she was at least 4yrs old when we got her. Poor ol' lady. TBW is very upset and tearful.

It is. Mrs Bat and The Boy Wonder had just got home from a nice day at the beach and I had to tell him 'cos he went to feed her.

12 years old for a cat is a very long life.

You've had better fortune with your cat than I did with mine. Sad story coming up. I bought a two month old kitten and after I had him for about one month I let him out in the garden so that he could do some exploring etc. I placed him down on the ground whereupon he shot through the fence, on to the road, where he was run over by a passing car.

The driver of the car didn't even stop. He must have felt a bump, but just drove straight on.

Oh so sorry to hear that Batman. I think, with cats, it is particularly difficult because they get so involved in your life..on your lap, as you come through the door... We have lost two cats..one through old age and once through poison. My ex gave our older cat a proper funeral with the kids and still has a picture of her on the wall. I think it can help to treat it like that - the kids were happy she had a proper funeral and were able to put their feelings in place, a bit, I think..but, of course, it isn't easy to decide what to do with little ones..
Hope he is Ok.

Liz
