After my various gaffs on here this week - I don't think that is possible.
It does cheer you up actually - a bit of blonde and I'm not kidding I think we have had one completely rain free day here for about three weeks I think - and it is that sort of large bucketfuls over your head type rain too. So that's it - I'm going for it - and taking the risking

I am sat here waiting for someone to check their money so we can go out. I will tell them from you that there is no recession on - despite the mysterious crossiant price rises..but they won't be told!

Good for you MB!........doing something new can really lift the spirits up, and you've put the traumas of the past behind you, why not post a pic of the new blonde you on this thread?

It depends how it turns out!I will put my pic up at some point. But I put in up on another forum and it did make me a bit paranoid actually! I know a lot of the people here are really nice but I had an afternoon when I convinced myself that some idiot had found out where I lived.
He also raided my photobucket account. He recently apologised to me for this - but I haven't forgiven him. I prefer the anonymity - it's nice to get away from it all on here, sometimes.

We spent a very nice day today at the Gressenhall Rural Life Museum and Grounds. The weather was sunny and the museum and grounds (inc the kids play area) were fantastic.

I've just had a bit of luck!
I've been doing a little bit of research on my family history for a couple of years, but I know so little about my Dad, I thought that I would have to wait for the 1911 census to be published before I could find out any more.

Earlier, I had a brainwave. I remembered that my Dad had once told me that some of his family were buried in a churchyard in Hampton, so I put 'hampton middlesex parish records' into my search engine and clicked on the first church that came up: The Parish Church Of St. James in Hampton Hill.
They have their churchyard records on-line and you can enter a surname to look for a grave - I found FIVE members of my family, including my Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather!

....and it just took a couple of mouse clicks!

Well done Dame.

I've been working on my family history for nearly a year now. It's not easy and, for me, it's been time consuming and even involved a bit of travel.

Worth it though

I was soooo lucky - I really couldn't believe that.

I discovered that my Grandmother was only 33 when she died. My Dad always said that he was only 6 when she died, but he was, actually, 10.
I knew that both my Uncle and Grandfather were called Alfred Stephen, but I also discovered that it was my Great-grandfather's name too.
The web pages even have a map which shows you where the graves are in the churchyard.

I now know that both of my Grandmothers had Agnes in their names - and one was Daisy and the other one Violet!

I'm called Stephen Crook. I'm named after my grandfather who was also Stephen Crook and his father was also Stephen Crook.

But even stranger ...
My Dad, granddad & great-granddad all marries Welsh or Irish girls called Kathleen.

Even though our surname is quite unusual it got most confusing researching our family tree with all those people called Stephen and all those people called Kathleen

My research led me to Scotland where I was able to search the "lair" records. These are records of burials. Very useful when the deceased were buried in unmarked graves. The records will tell you where the burials took place.

In one location, I'd been looking in the wrong cemetery. The ancestors I'd been searching for were buried in another, now derelict, cemetery in the same town.

I was also searching "pre census" so I spent two days looking at Parish Records

Thank God it's the end of the school holidays tomorrow. The library I work in has been visited today by every single gang of little ratbags in the area (apparently on a rota basis). I think they are practising their class disruption skills for the new term.

At one of our smaller libraries in the area the local idiots are all reaching 17 and 18, and are sheepishly comping into the library when their mates aren't around in order to look for jobs.

Now they've discovered that there isn't actually any future in hanging about outside the convenience store all day and night, they are finding that they have no skills an employer might want.
