Well "Murray the Miserable" has made a very promising start to Wimbledon this time around and doesn't seem too much out of his depth so far. Maybe he will crack a smile if he wins the tournament!

That was an amazing comeback by Murray at 2 sets down against Frenchman Richard Gasquet at Wimbledon today. To win that match seemed like an impossibility so well done to Murray, credit where its due I would say, he is a darned good player and I hope he goes further in the competition, if nothing else just to prove his critics and detractors wrong ( Im refering to his skill as a tennis player rather than opinions on his personality)

Murray is playing well but what was with his after match press conference?

He was answering questions from the worlds press while eating large mouthfuls from a takeaway sushi meal.

Not very classy Andy.

Dave.

Not classy but amusing all the same!
Maybe we should stop expecting him to be a dashing personality and just let him do what he does best - play great tennis. I hope he wins the tournament after his fantastic display yesterday. Anyway the combined wisdom of the press is probably equal to a takeaway sushi meal ...

I am disgusted at this forum's character assasination of Murray. Have any of you ever represented your country at a sport? Have any of you had to train exceptionally hard to super fitness and to be capable of what he achieves? Clearly none of you has any inkling of what it takes to do what he does and he does it with what he was born with. So many of you are far older than Murray and have forgotten that things like personality, speech ability and charisma come with experience and life and so what if he isn't the best looking boy on the courts. Also, none of you realise that after such a strenuous match it is essential for a player to replace the energy very fast - and that means eating as soon as possible. If Murray were to do the myriads of interviews that a home grown talent would be subjected to after such an extraordinary effort before eating it would seriously damage his recovery process and his ability to shape up for his match against Nadal.

To my mind this is exactly the sort of theme and the sort of comments which have been talked about as having no place in this forum. They are unfair and persecutory in nature. I, for one, do not want to hear fellow members referring regularly to someone as a "get".

The man has talent - leave his looks and speech ability out of it. I am shocked that so many experienced members of this forum have added to this unfair derogation.

As a media presenter and trained speech expert perhaps you would all like to submit a filmed interview of yourselves to me will critique your looks, nationality defects, mumblings and stumblings.

I asked him to look at the body. That's who he is.

As I started this thread I will answer your post. The question was asked because Murray presents himself in interviews as a charmless, selfish and miserable individual who continually berates others when things do not go his away. I passed no comment on his appearance or his talents as a tennis player. Footballers are constantly criticised (and rightly so) for their often rather suspect attitudes and behaviour and are often portrayed as bad role models. IMHO Murray generates the same message so I feel it is justifiable to question his outlook.

To Geronimo;I think you are being a little unfair in saying everyone on this thread is involved in a character assasination of Andy Murray. I have said that he is a great tennis player and have seen no mention at all of his physical appearance or looks so not sure where you get that from but not here I think. I would say he is fairly arrogant and charmless, not unusual in youths of his age, not a big deal to say so. I hope he does well next time around, as I said he is a great player.

Well Andy Murray finally won a Masters Tournament last night in Cincinatti, beating Djokovic in the final and I have to say he played very well and deserved the victory.

There was a point in the second set when he tried to grab defeat from the jaws of victory, but he battled on and immediately broke back having thrown away about 4 or 5 match points.

I am one of those who thought he was good, but maybe didn't have what it needed to reach the real high spots, that last 2-5%. He hit the ball harder than I have seen him before and pulled off some dazzling winners whilst his serve was excellent.

Who knows, maybe one day he may even win a grand slam event. He has definitely improved his ground strokes and his level of fitness. Good for him.
