That's why they have to serve it so cold. So that it freezes your taste buds. Otherwise people would realise that it's tasteless and all comes out of the same tap really

Honey beer, like Fuller's Honeydew, or Young's Waggledance, is very nice as well. Not as much honey so as to make it a mead, just a taste of it. Light and golden, ideal on a summer's day

But you can have Chocolate beer as well!

I find that nearly all supermarkets now carry a wide range of guest beers. Some that they always have and some that vary either with the seasons (like winter warmers) or just that they'll only get a few occasionally. Maybe it depends on the wine and spirits (and beer) manager for each store, but round our way they are all very good.

The Hobgoblin ales from Whychwood are really good. And there are all the beers with the fun names as well, like Sneck Lifter, Bishop's Finger

Just as well supermarkets stock a wide range of beers as, shortly, we'll have no pubs to drink them in!

My favourite for a lovely summery bitter is Badger Golden Champion but there are a lot of good 'uns about and full marks to our local Morrisons for a good selection, with British beers @ 4 for a fiver.

I'm glad it's not just me then Steve.

As a young man I used to love 'black & tan' , half a Wilsons Mild topped up with Cream Lable. That was a good Manchester concoction, I also liked Wilson's Wmbley and Olympic Ales, sadly long gone now.

You couldn't wack it, Saturday dinner , a pint of dark mild and a Hollands meat pie then off to the match.

Are they closing pubs round your way then? There seem to be more opening every week down here

Ah, well, you're talking about rich London Steve.
In Rhyl, nearest big town down the North Wales coast to me, well over half the town's pubs are either shut or up for sale.

Same here in Manchester. At one time there was a pub on every corner, literally, some were full when there were 3 or more customers inside they were so small, converted houses I guess from the early 20th century. A pub closing down was unheard of but not nowadays.

Brilliant ad and a great site.

The other falsehood that lager drinkers circulate is that real beer is served warm - rubbish. At most it's served at room temperature, but it's often served at cellar temperature which is quite a bit lower than room temperature. But in a way that still lets you taste it
