Coming from the same area as Drembles, I share similar tastes in Real Ale.
I'm a TT Landlord man myself. The George in Stamford is as far as I know the only place to serve Ruddles bitter, and is a glorius pint. Chemical free draft lager from Germany and Austria. Belgium is a great place to explore and sample some particularly good beers. Leffe Brun on draft is delicious but liable to knock your head off. |

A few years ago I used to sell Youngers No.3,which went down your throat like milk. You felt okay until you hit the fresh air outside. It nearly caused a few divorces,I tell you. Likewise,Becks Bier from Germany - which I drunk at the time. Ta Ta Marky B

?However, that is not necessarily the case? Those who wanted to get pissed might start off with dark or light beer, then go on the those alcopops, double JD's and (it pains me when I have been asked for this) Cheeky Vimto, which is port and Blue Wicked. I swear if turps was on draught, someone would buy it. Sometimes it is it the price which ushers taste. I am currently selling Theakstons Smooth for £1.45 a pint, and as it is the cheapest beer in my place, thus people are drinking it. If a so-called trad ale has a high volume content, then there are people who will drink it as a short cut to getting pissed. I have known landlords who have sold trad beers and have been a venue for CAMRA meetings, and believe me,the landlords would rather not they came in as they tend to buy a half,or just one pint (if they are driving, okay, but that is more than I would drink if I was driving) and spend the rest of the evening debating its merits compared to a pint of Old Fart in The Sheep Shagger down the road. When I was selling No 3 (and other guest ales, such Porter,Double Maxim on draught and others),I won six awards for its upkeep, from Scottish & Newcastle Breweries. At one point,I was the only person in the north east to win so many. A lot of people assumed I liked trad ale and used to visit the Hartlepool Beer Fesitval,to sample various types. I don't mind it,but I prefer the golden stuff, which is a drink favoured by people of any age. Ta Ta Marky B

Sorry,I've just realised after I've named a ficititious pub The Sheep Shagger, that there is a beer called The Sheep Shagger. I remember,me and my friends had to explain to some people from overseas (this was in the Lake District last year) what a sheep shagger was.
