Default Music Of Leroy Anderson
Does anyone else enjoy the work of this great composer of light music,he wrote some lovely pieces. My favourites are The Typewriter, Sleigh Ride, The Sandpaper Waltz, The Syncopated Clock, Blue Tango, and Belle of the Ball.

I remember that ,"Belle of the Ball." was the theme tune to the old "Star Sound." film magazine programme in the seventies.

Wonderful light music composer.
I think virtually every band played a version of The Blue Tango!
Somewhere in the garage I have a 78rpm of Plink, Plank, Plonk by Ken Mackintosh, with Harlem Nocturne on the other side - that really is a double A-side recording.

One of my childhood memories is the Mike Sammes Singers. Sing Something Simple - was that on the radio on a Sunday evening?

Sing something simple was the Cliff Adams Singers not Mike Sammes backed by Jack Emblow

I have a cd of Jack playing some French tunes, cant recall what its called but it was very good, it was on a budget label and as is the norm for these kind of releases the artists are not credited on the cover or the label, Jack only gets a credit on the sleevenotes.
Am I right in saying that Jack Emblow plays accordion on the Last of the Summer Wine theme.

I recorded some albums with Jack for a budget label called 'The French Collection' back in the early 70's, does that ring a bell?

Yes Earl B that sounds like the recordins I have.

Funnily enough I have just been listening to the Navy Lark on BBC7, I assume Jack played accordion on that theme.

Actually.....that's not an accordion.

It's a harmonica and it's played by the inestimable Tommy Reilly.

I'd be very interested to know where you got the CD as I have only a few vinyls which I'd like to update. Jack has quite a history. He played on 'Sing something Simple' along with many a TV and radio Shows. I used him on Radio Luxembourg for our equivalent of S.S.S and our show was called 'Tune a Minute' sponsored by Horace Batchelor.
