Default Which radio station & why...?

Mrs.Harley was running herself into the ground trying to run the family & work. So, reading Ainsley's books and I know he gets a load of s*** but I tell you what I learnt to cook with his books! Thanks Ainsley!

Thursday became my cooking night and PLANET ROCK! The Worlds BEST radio station!

Now I can cook Mexican prawns & air guitar to AC/DC Skynyrd, Zep, Purple, Genesis, Floyd, Purple etc etc

Don't knock it till you've tried it!

.................and chaps, don't ever take your lady for granted! We are all blessed!

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

Radio Caroline on 199 on Sky and the internet. Good mixture of album tracks that you dont hear elsehwere on British radio. All the presenters are volunteers but they are all very professional some of them are experienced disc jockeys and some have worked on the old Radio Caroline pirate ship.

I think its operating from somewhere in Kent but no on board ship.

There is a good specialist rock and roll programme called,"Good Rocking Tonight." introduced but Del Richardson. They have a lot of live guests Terry Dene guested last year.

I won a compettion on that programme last year, the prize was a couple of tickets for an Elvis tribute gig in kent. A nice prize but I sent it back because I live in South Wales.

Well worth listening to for all us forty somethings and beyond. Like many internet radio stations Caroline is funded by donations from listeners.

I think I've grown old prematurely.
I can no longer stand modern rock, and I listen mainly to BBC Radios 3 and 4.
I'll occasionally listen to an old Floyd, Greenslade or Moody Blues album, but not much else. I've been into classical for some time, and I see my jazz collection (big band as well as small/cool) is growing.
Sometimes, if R3 is getting a bit esoteric for my tastes, I swing over to Classic FM, only to find them promoting yet another one of their peculiar 'home-grown' neither-one-thing-nor-the-other artistes like Russel Watson or Katherine Jenkins, and I suspect they grow them by the thousand in hydroponic greenhouses.
Sorry, don't mean to be judgemental or owt....

I enjoy classical music, but like Andy H, I can't stand the dumbed down content and sugary presentation on Classic FM. There's also too much dynamic compression on their broadcasts.

Radios Three, Four and Seven for me, though I'm beginning to explore the wonders of internet radio.

I know what you mean about the dumbed down presentation on Classic F.M., I remember being a bit shocked when it started back in 1992, when I heard Henry Kelly giving out racing tips on his programme. I didnt expect it to be as highbrow as Radio Three, but racing tips?

I listened to "THE JAZZ" digitlal channel on Sky, a couple of weeks ago I was shocked to hear that they got rid of all the presenters. Its nice to hear uninterupted music on internet channels but its also nice to have the company of a presenter, The Jazz had a good Saturday Morning show where the reviewed the latest releases.

The listening figures were supposed to have been good, I dont know where it went wrong, I thought it was too good to be true.

I quite like The Arrow Rock station but it souds as if its run on a shoestring.

Radios 2,3,4 and 5, and an occasional flirt with Smooth Radio.
Not necessarily in that order though.
