Still do actually - I'm that sad. In the fifties though you bought them from Smiley's Model Shop in Feltham. The game was to kneel around eight feet from a wall and flick them at the wall. As they dropped on to those already on the floor, you won the card beneath yours. If it dropped across two, that was 'bridge-ums'. You could also prop them against the wall and attempt to knock them over, again from around eight feet away. Actually, quite apart from the info on the back of the cards, being a successful 'flicker' must have had some effect on spatial skills later in life. Sticking any cards (and we always looked down on tea cards) into a book has killed their value today. And some are worth over £50 EACH! - and that's per card, unstuck.
If anyone out there would like to take a trip back, the people to contact are at:
info@murraycards.com
Address: 51 Watford Way,
Hendon Central,
London NW4 3JH
They have around 25 million cards in stock.
If you are over sixty and didn't get the chance to play then, it's never too late to start. But you will need a kneeler - and some mates.

Regards,
HG

Bubblegum cards featuring pictures from tv shows of the mid to late sixties, I remember Man From U.N.C.LE., Batman, Star Trek and Combat. One of my favourites was the High Chaparral bubble gum cards which also featured fake us dollars.

I've often thought about making my first million bringing back 5 stones, or Jacks. Now that was good for hand-eye co-ordination. But would it catch on these days? Pokemon cards did a couple of years ago.
Regards,
HG

I think you can still get 'Jacks' - I'm sure they sometimes come in Christmas crackers. I learnt to play on our front porch before I even went to school and it was brilliant for hand/eye co-ordination.
If they are still available, I'm sure that "elf'n'safety" will soon ban them - a child might swallow them or put them up their nose.........
Two balls, handstands/headstands (skirts tucked into knickers).............
In my first primary school, we also had air-raid shelters that we played in!

DS x.

The Christmas countdown has begun - don't leave it all until the last minute!

I had a full set of American Civil War Cards. They had great illustrations of

battles on one side & real news bulletins of the time printed on the back. Also

included were fake Confederate Banknotes. These cards started an interest in

that War for me that lasts to this day!

Just to clarify, the said air-raid shelters had been dis-used for MANY years!
