I confess that I bought Stan and Ollie's 45 [Tale of the Lonesome Pine] for my brother one Christmas! Is that a record, literally, for time between decease and release?

Stan died in the 60s and Linesome Pine was a hit in the 70s so probably not. Buddy Holly had hits about 20 years after his death.

Probably ..... about 40yrs is quite a gap. It's possible some 50s stuff has bridged the gap but Stan and Ollie would definitely be the first to cover that amount of time.
